Trainer Preparation Guide for Course 20341B: Core Solutions of Microsoft® Exchange Server 2013 1
Trainer Preparation Guide for Course 20341B: Core
Solutions of Microsoft® Exchange Server 2013
Design of the Course
The course design is based on the how IT professionals perform management tasks on Exchange Server
2013. Some of these tasks include deploying and configuring Exchange Server 2013, and managing
Exchange Server 2013 mailboxes. The course also includes tasks on how to plan and implement Exchange
Server 2013 backup and recovery, and how to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Exchange Server 2013.
The course starts with the deployment and management of Exchange Server 2013, where the students
learn about AD DS integration and Exchange Server prerequisites. Exchange Server 2013 is introduced in
general, and the students learn how to deploy it, and are shown the techniques that can be used to
manage it (Module 1).
The course continues with teaching students how to manage the Mailbox server role on Exchange Server
2013 (Module 2). The Mailbox server role hosts different types of mailboxes, so the next step is for
students to learn how to manage mailboxes and other types of recipients on Exchange Server 2013
(Module 3). Next, the Client Access server role that the clients use to connect to the Exchange Server
infrastructure is discussed (Module 4). After learning about the Client Access server role in general,
students learn how to deal with the client connectivity options to the Client Access server (Module 5).
Students then learn how to deploy and manage the high availability options for the Client Access server
and the Mailbox server (Module 6). In Exchange Server 2013, high availability is close associated with
disaster mitigation, but some additional disaster recovery steps may still be required (Module 7).
Students then find out about the transport component in Exchange Server 2013 (Module 8). One of the
components when managing message transport is enabling anti-spam and antimalware filtering. (Module
9). Security is then covered from the aspect of administration and auditing (Module 10). The course ends
with monitoring and troubleshooting Exchange Server 2013 (Module 11).

Instructional Preparation Activities
It is highly recommended that you complete the following instructional preparation activities:
• Read the About This Course at the beginning of the Course handbook for the learning product.
• Walk through the Introduction slide deck for the learning product.
• Walk through each module presentation slide deck and read the corresponding Instructor Notes
(located in the notes view of the presentation slide deck) for the module. Note that additional hidden
slides are used in each slide deck to accommodate the amount of Instructor Notes information for a
given topic.
• Practice presenting each module:
• Identify the key points and must-know information for each topic.
• Perform each demonstration and hands-on lab.
• Anticipate the questions that students might have.
• Identify examples, analogies, impromptu demonstrations, and additional delivery tips that will
help to clarify module content and provide a more meaningful learning experience for your
specific audience.
• Note any problems that you might encounter during a demonstration or a lab exercise, and
determine a course of action for how you will resolve the problems in the classroom. To access
the lab answer keys, refer to the appendix in the Course Handbook.
• Work through the Module Review and Takeaways section at the end of each module and
determine how you will use this section to reinforce student learning and promote knowledge
transfer to on-the-job performance.
