12 YEARS A SLAVE
The movie 12 years a slave is a story about Solomon Northup who was been
slave for 12 years. Solomon Northup is free-man who was kidnapped and
been slave to the white people. The movie shows racism on the reason that
they consider black people as slave. After Solomon was kidnapped, he was
sold to the white people and made them as laborer without giving them salary,
proper food and comfortable shelter to stay. He saw how brutal Solomon used
his skills and intelligence in order to survive and protect himself in possible
harm.
I was happy at first because I can see how he love his family that he is willing
to do whatever the circumstances is, as long as he will give his family a better
life and a better future. His family is one of the reason why he wanted to
survive and get out to be free-man again. Not until he was sabotage by white
men and kidnapped him. It was really devastating because imagine, you are a
free-man and then one day you’ll wake up and you’re one of the slaves.
Another one is that, you know that there’s a family waiting to you and you
can’t get hold to them because it might put you on trouble. At the end,
Solomon got his freedom again with the help of one of his masters. He was
very happy to his family again. The movie teaches us not to easily give up in
life no matter how long it takes as long as we know to ourselves that we did
our best in order to achieve that goal.
