1.

To what extent, has globalization impacted your country’s culture and

traditions?
Globalization has significantly affected societies globally, including
Vietnam, a country with a rich cultural heritage. This presentation examines
the impact of globalization on Vietnamese culture and traditions, considering
both its positive and negative aspects.
- Cultural Homogenization: Globalization has significantly impacted
Vietnamese culture by fostering cultural homogenization. Western media,
technology, and consumer products have proliferated, disseminating
Western values and lifestyles. Particularly, Vietnamese youth are heavily
influenced by Western norms via television, social media, and popular
culture, resulting in a decline in traditional Vietnamese values and
practices as they adopt Western attitudes towards fashion, entertainment,
and social conduct.
- Economic Transformations and Cultural Shifts: Globalization has
caused notable economic changes in Vietnam, prompting shifts in
cultural practices and traditions. The transition from agricultural to
industrial economies has impacted lifestyles, especially in cities.
Traditional jobs and crafts have declined as modern industries serving
global markets have taken precedence. Consequently, certain cultural
practices like agricultural festivals and artisanal crafts have lost
significance as younger generations pursue more profitable opportunities
in the contemporary economy.
- Cultural Hybridization and Adaptation: Globalization presents
challenges to Vietnamese culture, but it also showcases its resilience and
adaptability. Cultural exchange has led to the fusion of traditional
Vietnamese elements with contemporary influences, evident in globally
popular dishes like pho and banh mi. Traditional art forms like water
puppetry and ao dai fashion have gained international appreciation,
contributing to the preservation of Vietnamese cultural heritage.
- Challenges to Cultural Preservation: Globalization has posed
challenges to preserving Vietnamese culture and traditions. Economic
development and urbanization have caused the loss of historical sites and
cultural landmarks. Furthermore, the commercialization of cultural
artifacts for tourism has raised concerns about authenticity. Efforts to
protect traditional knowledge face obstacles amid globalization's push for
modernization and economic growth.
2. Are we likely to reduce income inequality in society in the next decade?
Income inequality is a persistent societal issue that has garnered increasing
attention in recent years. Our presentation delves into the prospects for its
mitigation in the next decade.
- Policy Reforms: There is growing recognition among policymakers of
the need to address income inequality through targeted policy
interventions. Initiatives such as raising the minimum wage,
implementing progressive taxation, and expanding social welfare
programs could help narrow the income gap.
- Technological Innovation: While technological advancements have
contributed to income inequality, they also hold the potential to reduce it.
Investments in education and training programs geared towards
equipping workers with the skills needed for the jobs of the future can
help mitigate the adverse effects of automation and promote inclusive
growth.
- Social Movements: The rise of social movements advocating for
economic justice and equity has put pressure on governments and
corporations to address income inequality. Grassroots mobilization and
advocacy efforts could lead to meaningful policy changes and corporate
reforms aimed at promoting fairer income distribution.
- Global Cooperation: Income inequality is not confined within national
borders but is a global phenomenon. International cooperation and
coordination on issues such as tax evasion, illicit financial flows, and
trade policies could help address the root causes of income inequality and
promote more equitable outcomes globally.
3. Social media has negative and positive impacts on humans, to what
extent do you agree?
Social media has become an integral part of modern society, profoundly
shaping the way people communicate, interact, and perceive the world
around them. In this presentation, we strongly agree with statement that
social media has negative and positive impacts on humans.
- Positive impacts:
 Firstly, social media facilitates communication and connectivity on
a global scale. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
enable individuals to stay connected with friends, family, and
acquaintances irrespective of geographical barriers. This
interconnectedness fosters a sense of community and solidarity,
especially among marginalized groups and those separated by long
distances.
 Secondly, social media serves as a powerful tool for information
dissemination and awareness-raising. It has revolutionized the way
news is consumed, allowing users to access real-time updates and
diverse perspectives on global events. Moreover, social media
campaigns have been instrumental in raising awareness about
social issues, promoting activism, and mobilizing support for
various causes, ranging from environmental conservation to human
rights advocacy.
- Negative impacts:
 However, alongside its positive contributions, social media also
exerts detrimental effects on individuals' mental health and well-
being. The constant exposure to curated content, unrealistic
standards of beauty, and comparison with others can lead to
feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, and body image issues,
particularly among young users.
 Additionally, the prevalence of cyberbullying and online
harassment poses a significant threat to users' psychological and
emotional health. The anonymity afforded by social media
platforms often emboldens individuals to engage in hostile
behavior, spreading hate speech, misinformation, and targeting
vulnerable individuals, thereby perpetuating a toxic online
environment.
4. How do couples overcome challenges in their long-term relationships?
Long-term relationships are a journey filled with highs and lows, joys and
challenges. Couples embark on this journey with love and commitment, but
along the way, they encounter various obstacles that test the strength of their
bond. In this presentation, we will explore the ways in which couples
overcome challenges in their long-term relationships.
- Communicate effectively: Effective communication lies at the heart of
every successful relationship. Couples who navigate challenges
successfully prioritize open, honest, and respectful communication.
Instead of bottling up emotions or resorting to passive-aggressive
behavior, they express their concerns, fears, and needs openly. By
listening attentively and validating each other's feelings, they foster trust
and emotional intimacy.
- Be prepared to compromise: Compromise is essential in any
relationship, particularly when faced with conflicting desires or goals.
Successful couples recognize that compromise does not mean sacrificing
one's needs or values but finding common ground where both partners
can feel satisfied. They approach challenges with a willingness to
negotiate and find solutions that benefit the relationship as a whole. They
understand that compromise is not a one-time event but an ongoing
process of give and take.
- Trust: Trust forms the foundation of any enduring relationship. Couples
in long-term commitments nurture trust by being reliable, honest, and
transparent with one another. When challenges arise, trust acts as a
guiding light, fostering a sense of security and stability. Partners lean on
each other, confident in the knowledge that they have each other's backs.
- Always show empathy: Empathy is the ability to understand and share
the feelings of another. This fosters compassion and understanding,
allowing partners to support each other through difficult times. When
faced with obstacles, empathetic couples validate each other's emotions
and offer comfort and reassurance. They listen with an open heart,
seeking to truly understand their partner's experiences and struggles.

5. Is it possible to address gender inequality and promote gender equity in

our society?
Gender inequality, a pervasive issue deeply ingrained in societal structures
worldwide, continues to hinder progress towards gender equity. While the
road to achieving gender equity is fraught with challenges, it is indeed
possible to address gender inequality and promote gender equity in our
society through concerted efforts at individual, institutional, and societal
levels.
- Firstly, education is crucial in challenging traditional gender norms and
promoting equality. Inclusive curricula that recognize women's historical
contributions and encourage critical thinking about gender roles empower
individuals to challenge stereotypes. Equal access to quality education
and STEM fields breaks down barriers perpetuating gender inequality.
- Moreover, creating gender-sensitive workplaces is vital for promoting
gender equity. Companies should adopt policies like pay transparency,
flexible work arrangements, and zero-tolerance for discrimination and
harassment. It's crucial to dismantle systemic barriers to career
advancement, such as the glass ceiling and implicit bias in hiring and
promotion processes, to achieve gender parity in leadership roles across
industries.
- Additionally, the importance of societal change regarding gender roles
and identities. It highlights the influence of media and popular culture in
shaping perceptions and advocates for positive representations of women
and non-binary individuals to challenge stereotypes and promote gender
equity. It also stresses the significance of fostering conversations about
the fluidity and diversity of gender expressions to create inclusive
communities.
- However, addressing gender inequality requires more than just
addressing discrimination against women; it also entails addressing the
intersecting oppressions faced by individuals based on factors such as
race, class, sexuality, and disability. Intersectional approaches that
recognize the interconnected nature of various forms of oppression are
essential for creating solutions that address the diverse experiences of
marginalized groups.
