ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this research work was to evaluate the relationship between Classroom

Management Strategies and Students’ Academic Performance in Secondary Schools in Bwari

Area Council Abuja. The study was guided by three research questions, three objectives with

three corresponding hypotheses. Several studies were reviewed as its empirical studies. This

study was anchored on two theories which include Skinners Operant Conditioning Theory

(1948) and Canters Model of Assertive Discipline by Lee and Marlene (1976). The study

adopted a correlational research design. More so, the population of the study comprised of

933 teachers. The sample size of the study includes 140 teachers drawn from 5 Government

secondary schools in Bwari Area Council. Questionnaires were used as the method of data

collection by the researcher. The questionnaire was tagged “Classroom Management

Strategies and Student Academic Performance’’ (CMSAPQ). The findings of the study

revealed that there was a significant relationship between Teachers communication skills and

Students Academic Performance in Government Secondary Schools in Bwari Area Council

Abuja, there was a significant relationship between Group based learning and Students

Academic Performance in Government Secondary Schools in Bwari Area Council Abuja, and

there was a significant relationship between peer teaching and Students Academic

Performance in Government Secondary Schools in Bwari Area Council Abuja.
