Script
---
(Setting: A newsroom with two male anchors discussing the recent murder.)
News Anchor 1 (Kemal): Good evening massachussets, Tragic news tonight as we uncover
details about the murder of a prominent businessman.
News Anchor 2 (Wira): That’s right. His wife, fitness instructor Brooke Wyndham, is now the
prime suspect. Eyewitnesses suggest she was seen near the crime scene that night.
News Anchor 1: It’s hard to believe. The story’s unfolding fast, and we’ll keep you updated
on the investigation.
---
(Setting: The courtroom. All cast members in the trial setting are present. Judge Rafi bangs
the gavel to begin.)
Judge (Rafi): Court is in session! We’re here to determine the truth behind the murder of Mr.
Windham.
Prosecutor (Koneri): Your Honor, the evidence points clearly toward Brooke Wyndham as the
killer. The defendant was at the scene, and we have testimony that suggests motive.
Elle (Elia): [standing, confident] Your Honor, I represent Brooke, and I’m here to prove her
innocence.
---
(Setting: In the courtroom, Chutney takes the stand, sharing her version of the night. The
scene shifts into Chutney’s imagination, recreating the murder with Brooke looking like the
aggressor.)
Narrator (Habi): In Chutney’s version, Brooke is depicted as a furious and vengeful woman
who can’t stand her husband any longer.
Chutney (Najwa): [voice-over, as she testifies] Brooke was arguing with my father that night.
She’d been angry at him for weeks, and that night, she snapped.
(Brooke and Chutney’s father are seated in the living room. Brooke looks tense, her eyes
narrowed in frustration.)
Chutney: [voice-over] I was upstairs, taking a shower, when I heard their voices. She was
threatening him, saying things like, “I can’t stand being with you anymore!”
(Brooke stands abruptly, grabbing the gun nearby and aiming it at Chutney’s father, her
expression cold and ruthless.)
Chutney: [still narrating] Then, I heard the gunshot. By the time I came downstairs, Brooke
was standing over my father’s body, holding the gun.
(Brooke “fires” the gun, and Chutney’s father collapses. Brooke stands over him, looking
emotionless. Chutney watches from afar, portraying Brooke as guilty in her mind’s eye.)
---
(Setting: Back in the courtroom, Elle questions Chutney, probing for inconsistencies.)
Elle: [challenging Chutney] So, you’re saying Brooke threatened your father in that way?
Elle: And you just happened to come downstairs after the shot was fired?
(Chutney steps down, looking nervous. Elle glances at Brooke, who is seated, visibly
frustrated but still hopeful.)
---
Scene 5: Elle’s Theory of the Real Murder – The Curly Hair Clue
(Setting: The living room where the murder happened. Elle takes the lead, narrating her
theory. The characters – Brooke, Chutney, and Chutney’s father – move into position
according to Elle’s description. Chutney subtly wears a disposable plastic glove to avoid
leaving fingerprints.)
Elle (Elia): [to the audience, confidently] Your Honor, the evidence tells a different story.
Here’s what I believe happened.
(Chutney’s father and Brooke are in separate areas – Chutney’s father sits in the living room,
and Brooke is in the kitchen, preparing a snack or drink, oblivious to what’s about to
happen.)
Elle: [pointing to Chutney] Chutney couldn’t bear to see her father with Brooke. So she made
a plan to frame her.
(Chutney, unseen by her father, slips on a plastic glove, commonly used in makeup
application, to avoid leaving fingerprints. She carefully picks up the gun.)
Elle: Chutney waited until Brooke was in the kitchen, then quietly approached. She fired the
shot, making sure Brooke would hear but not see what had happened.
(Chutney “fires” the gun, and her father collapses. Brooke hears the shot from the kitchen
and rushes into the living room, shocked and confused.)
(Seeing the gun nearby, Brooke instinctively picks it up, still in shock, trying to process the
scene. She looks at the gun in her hand, horrified and confused.)
Elle: [walking around the frozen scene] And just like that, Brooke walked into Chutney’s trap.
Chutney knew Brooke would panic, and in that panic, she’d pick up the gun, not realizing it
would make her look guilty.
Elle: But there’s something Chutney forgot… [gesturing to Chutney’s curly hair] Chutney, you
said you were in the shower right before the murder. But if you had showered, why is your
hair still perfectly curled?
Elle: For someone who showers as often as you, I’d expect you to know that water would
have straightened your curls! That’s the one detail that proves your story is a lie. You never
showered; you planned this whole scene to frame Brooke.
(The scene unfreezes as Brooke lowers the gun, realizing she’s been framed. Chutney
stands, unable to maintain her calm facade, looking increasingly nervous as Elle lays out her
theory.)
(Setting: Back in the courtroom, all cast members are present. Chutney is visibly shaken
after Elle’s revelation.)
Elle: [addressing the court] Your Honor, it’s clear now that Brooke was innocent. Chutney’s
plan to frame her has been exposed.
Chutney (Najwa): [confessing] It was supposed to be easy. I just… I wanted her out of our
lives. She took everything from me. I didn’t want… I didn’t mean for it to go this far.
Judge: [nodding solemnly] The court finds Brooke Wyndham not guilty. Chutney Windham,
you will be taken into custody.
(The cops escort Chutney out of the courtroom as Brooke sighs in relief, and Elle smiles,
knowing she’s won.)
