BRIEF INTRODUCTION
        Device manager is an application utility program that allow
users to view and control the connected hardware devices on the
computer. It is useful to update driver, disable device, uninstall
device, scan for hardware changes and display device properties.

A. The Device Manager in Your Computer
       Device Manager is a utility program application in the control panel included in
the operating system of the computer. Device manager allow the users to view and
control the hardware devices connected to the computer. These data will help you view
about the device manager:
   -   It displays the information about the devices on the computer.
   -   The type of device is shown on the device manager.
   -   The status of the devices is monitored.
   -   The manufacturer of the device.
   -   The device specific properties.
B. Locating the Device Manager
 1. Device Manager via Control Panel

      Control panel is a part of the system that has the ability to view and make a
change in system settings on hardwares and softwares. Control panel includes system
and security, network and internet, user accounts, hardware and sound, programs,
appearance and personalization, clock and region, and ease of access. The device
manager is located in one of the selections and can be viewed on the screen by
following these procedures:
      -   In your windows 7 click Start  Control Panel
      -   Click System and Security  System  Device Manager

 2. Device Manager via Command Prompt
    Command prompt is an operating system default command line interpreter which
is cmd.exe. The device manager can be opened following these procedures:
      -   Press the window key (                    ) on your keyboard +

 3. Device Manager via Search Box
    Search box is a graphical control element bar on the lower part of the computer
screen for locating items through its file manager database or search through web
browsers and websites. To open the device manager using the search box can be done
by these procedures:

 4. Device Manager via Computer Icon
       Computer icon (                ) is a folder shortcut to the windows explorer containing
information about hard drives and partitions, CD/or DVD drive, USB drive, documents,
pictures, music and video files, as well as other connected devices. To open the device
manager through the computer icon can be done on these procedures:
       -   Right-click the computer icon.
       -   Click properties  Device Manager.
C...Functions of the Device Manager
       The device manager allow your connected devices to update driver, disable
device, uninstall device, scan for hardware changes and display device properties.
These can be done by following specific procedures:
 1. Update Driver
       Update driver is the process of searching for device driver updates for the
connected device on your computer. It will allow you to search online for an updated
version of the driver on the device or manually choose specific driver that is available in
your computer system. The process of updating in the device manager are as follows:
       -   Locate the device manager.
       -   Select the name of the device from the lists of devices.
       -   Right-click the device you intend to update.

      -   Follow the on-screen instruction for the computer to search online, or you can
          do it manually.

 2. Disable Device
      Disable device is the process of not allowing the device (or discontinuing) to work
on its purpose in the system. The purpose of disabling the device when such device is
suspected for possible problem in its regular function. During installation process, the
device is enabled and in this process if disabled has been done the OS may no longer
provide that device to function in the system. The steps to be followed to disable a
device are:
      -   Locate the device manager.
      -   Right-click the device and another options will be shown.
      -   Click disable device.
      -   An option for you to continue (Yes) or not continue (No).

 3. Uninstall Device
      Uninstall device is removing the software used in the installation of the particular
device, all the shortcuts and the program that made up the device in its function will be
removed from the system. The steps in uninstall device are as follows:
      -   Locate the device manager.
      -   Right-click the device and options will be shown.
      -   Click uninstall device and follow on-screen instruction.
      -   Reboot or restart the computer to recognize the changes.

 4. Scan for Hardware Changes
      Scan for hardware changes is an option to refresh the device manager for any
possible changes to be shown on the screen. The steps to be followed are:

       -   Right-click the device and options will be shown.
       -   Click the scan for hardware changes and view what will happen, if there is no
           recent changes scanning process will return you to the device manager view.

       Device properties is viewing information about the devices connected to the
system such as its compliant status, the type of device, the manufacturer, and the
