TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
Organizer, date and place of the event
The Belgrade Chess Association, under the auspices of the Secretariat for Sports and Youth of
Belgrade and the Chess Federation of Serbia, is organizing the 37th BELGRADE OPEN CHESS
CHAMPIONSHIP - "BELGRADE TROPHY" from November 23rd to December 1st, 2024.
The tournament will be played in the venue at the 2nd floor of the “Studentski grad”
restaurant (address: Novi Beograd, Tošin bunar 143-151)
The collaborator in the technical organization of the tournament is Chess Club "Studentski
grad", and during the tournament the jubilee - 70 years of playing chess in Studentski grad -
will be appropriately marked.
Right to participate
All chess players have the right to participate in the tournament, regardless of the title and
rating, as long as they register in a timely manner and fulfil their financial obligations on time.
The organizer reserves the right to limit the number of participants due to the capacity of the
playing hall, which will be announced in advance.
Competition system, the rate of play, norms and rating
The tournament is played according to the Swiss 9-round system. The time control is 90
minutes per player for 40 moves and 15 minutes until the end of the game, with a 30 seconds
increment for each move, starting with the first one.
With prior notice, in the first 6 rounds, the player can choose one round in which he could
remain unpaired, with half point awarded to him.
The tournament is rated by FIDE so that there is a possibility to win all international titles'
norms.
Schedule
Confirmation of participation should be done in the playing hall on Saturday, November 23rd ,
no later than 2:30 p.m. Players who make all payments are exempt from the obligation to
confirm their participation. The pairings of the first round will be announced before 15:00.
The opening ceremony will take place on November 23rd at 4:45 p.m., after which the first
round will start. Regular rounds are played every day at 4:45 p.m., except for the last round,
the 9th round, which is scheduled on Sunday, December 1st at 10:00 a.m.
The closing ceremony, awarding of cups, medals and prizes will take place 15 minutes after the
end of the last game.
Prizes
The organizer has provided a prize fund in the total net amount of 6,000 Euros, divided into
22 prizes (10 regular and 12 special) which will be distributed to participants (participants are
not obliged to pay taxes).

Regular prizes: €1,500, €1.000, €750, €600, €450, €300, €200, €150, €100, €100.
The most successful female chess players: €150, €100, €50
The most successful senior players (born in 1959. and older): €100, €50, €50
Players rated up to 1650: €75, €50, €50
Players rated from 1651 - 1900: €75, €50, €50
The player can win only one prize (the highest). Suppose the player acquires the right to two
equal cash prizes. In that case, he/she will win the one listed according to the order in the
tournament regulations.
In case places are shared, prizes for competitors that won 7 or more points will be divided
according to the "Hort" system. Other regular and special prizes will be given according to tie-
break criteria defined in the Tournament Regulations.
Registration fees
The entry fee for participation in the tournament is 45 Euros for all participants. GM and WGM
title holders and players with a rating over 2450 on the day of registration are exempt from
payment.
Accommodation
All participants are obliged to book accommodation through the organizer (participants who
want to organize their own accommodation, pay an additional fee of €30).
The organizer has provided special conditions for grandmasters with a rating of over
2400 ELO rating points. Number of spots is limited.
Accommodation for the participants of the tournament is provided at the following official

Prices based on bed and breakfast service:
€67,50 per night in a single room,
€42,50 per person per night in a double room and additional payment for 3rd person is only €10

Free wi-fi and parking.
Tourist tax fee (€1,35 per person/day) is not included in the price.
2) Hostel “Studentski grad” (2 minutes walking to the playing venue) – number of rooms is
limited
Prices based on bed and breakfast service:
€37 per night in a single room,
€26 per person per night in a double room
€21 per person per night in a triple room
Each room has its own bathroom, TV and mini kitchen.
Free wi-fi, parking, gym and sauna.
Tourist tax fee (€1,35 per person/day) is not included in the price.
If necessary, the organizer will provide assistance to the participants for transfers from
Belgrade Airport. The price depends on the date of arrival and the number of persons.
Payments
Payments for entry fee and accommodation are made through the account of the Chess
Association of Belgrade, through a pay-pal account or in cash.
Information, registration and accommodation booking
The deadline for registration and accommodation booking is Wednesday, November 20th.
