FAQ – Examination

Q 1. What is the Evaluation System at UPES Online?

Ans-: UPES follows an instructor-led continuous evaluation system for all MBAs,
Undergraduate courses and Post Graduate Programs.
The following criteria shall be followed with regard to evaluations:
Assessment (Theory Paper) Weightage (UG & PG Programs)

Assignment 30%

Semester End Examination 70%

In the Final Semester, following shall be the pattern for evaluation:

Assessment Weightage (UG & PG Programs)

Assignments 50%

End Term Examination 20%

Dissertation 30%

Details pertaining to assessments and evaluations for each course shall be


communicated to you on the first day of the class.

Q 2. When are the Exams conducted?

Ans-: For the Degree Courses there are two Examination Cycles – June, and December.
Supplementary exams are held in March and September cycle or as notified.

For Certificate o erings there are three exam cycles – June, September and March or as
notified .

Q 3. Is registration compulsory for booking slots:

Ans-: Yes, only those students who have completed the exam registration process
through portal will be eligible to book slots. Kindly refer date sheet and book the slots
accordingly only through your email ID registered with us.

Q4. Are there unlimited slots to register?

Ans-: Slots are limited and on first come first serve basis. Kindly plan and book the slots
as soon as possible. You will receive the slot booking link on email.
Q5. Slot booking steps-:

Ans -: Steps to book your desired slots before they get filled:

1. To book your exam slot please visit exam portal Link shared on email by Support
team

2. Book the slots on or before due date.

3. Enter your registered Email id, password and submit.

4. If you don’t know your password or have forgotten it, then use Forgot your
password button to reset the password.

Q6. What is general timeline for slot booking?

Ans-: Slot booking link is available till midnight, three days before the exam begins

Q7. How will I know that my slot is confirmed:

Ans-: Once booking is confirmed, your system will show the booking confirmation
message. Click on OK button to acknowledge the same.

Q8. Do I have to pay for cancelling my slot?

Ans-: There is no payment for cancelling the slot. However if you do not show up for the
booked exam slot, it will be counted as a missed exam and it will chargeable INR 1,000
per subject the next time you appear.

Q9. Can I reschedule the examination slot.

Ans-: Yes you can reschedule your slot up to 48 hours before the commencement of
exam, subject to availability.

Q10. How do I reschedule my examination slot ?

Ans-: It is recommended to appear for exam at the scheduled slot. However if you need
to reschedule your examination slot due to some emergency, send an email with
details on Helpdesk email id: cce-helpdesk@upes.ac.in. We will coordinate with
concerned team and get your slot rescheduled.

Q 11. Does a student get flexibility in booking exam slots.

Ans. Yes the student gets flexibility in choosing the exam slots.

Degree Programs - The exam slots are available, either on Friday / Saturday / Sunday or
Saturday / Sunday / Monday over two weeks as announced in the student portal.

For Non degree o erings ( PGP ) – The exam slots are available all days in the span of 10
days announced on the student portal.
The Time slots will be announced along with the date sheet and the student can book
the slot as per his preference and availability of slots.

 Number of slots / timing / days are sole discretion of the university and are
subject to change.

FAQ’s-: During Exam

Q1. What are prerequisites for taking exam?

Ans-: The prerequisite for taking exam are as listed below.


 Either of below mentioned devices with a fitted working webcam:
 A) Laptop + Android Phone
 B) If you are using IOS device / I phone you must have safari browser and
version 15.4
 A Valid Photo ID proof issued by the Government to be kept handy, while
appearing in any examination.
 On the day of the exam you have to login to your examination scheduling
portal 30 minutes before the exam starts.
 Link to take the exam will be shared on email.
Q2. Who will help me if I have technical issues at the time of exam?

Ans-: You will be assisted by Code Tantra Support team for all the technical issues. Their
contact details will be shared with you on email.

You are advised to mark Helpdesk in all mail communications with Code Tantra. This
will help in faster resolution of your queries.

Q3. What if I get logged out of the exam?

Ans-: You are requested to have power and internet backup with you to prevent getting
logged out. Please charge your device fully prior to starting the exam. If you get logged
out, relog in immediately as the test will get automatically submitted to Code Tantra
server after 20 – 30 minutes and cannot be reopened again.

Q4. Is there any tutorial for taking exam?

Ans-: The process for taking exam is shared vide a video recording over the email. You
are advised to see the tutorial video before taking exam.

You are also advised to attempt mock test made available to you few days before exam.
This will give you feel and look of the platform and confirm your system compatibility for
the platform.
Q5. What is the exam pattern?

Ans-: Following is the exam pattern -:

Q6. What is the duration of exam?

Ans-: The duration is three hours.

Q7. Till when can I login for exam?

Ans-: You are requested to start the exam on time. The test window may not be active
after 15 minutes of exam getting started.

Q8. What resources or study materials available to help me prepare for the exam?

Ans-: The assignments, quizzes, recordings of Live Sessions, SLM (Self Learning
Material- eBooks) and other e-material available on your LMS will help you prepare for
the exam. For more reference materials you may check and read books online through
your E-Library account.

Q 9. What is the passing criteria?

Q 10. What is an Internal Assignment ?

Ans-: Internal Assignment are assignments given to students during the semester to
evaluate their understanding of concept. They are set to evaluate student’s thought
process conceptual understanding and application of concept.

Q 11. Where can I access Assignment?

Ans-: The assignments are uploaded on Learning Management System (LMS) portal and
have to be submitted there after completion.

Q 12. How many assignments are there?

Ans-: For all MBAs, BBA, BCA and PG programs there are 2 assignments per subject per
semester.

The PG program the assignment has multiple choice questions only

Q 13. What is the layout of the assignment question paper:

Q 14. Is there any fee applicable to take term end or re - exam registration.

Ans-: The examination fee is part of program fee hence no fee charged for registering for
term end exam. But if student does not appear for exam after booking slot or fails to
clear the exam and has to take re – exam then a fee of Rs 1000 is applicable.

Q 15. Is there any assignment fee ?

Ans-: There is no assignment fee for submitting assignments in first two attempts. If the
student fails to clear in two attempts and ask for third attempt then a fee of Rs 1000 will
be charged per assignment.
Q 16. Is there any reference material to do the assignment?

Ans-: You can refer to recorded live sessions and other study material on LMS to do the
assignment. If the matter is found copied without citation, then such assignment will be
considered plagiarized and marked zero. However, these students will be allowed to
register and appear for term end examination.

Q17. Is there any tool to check if any content is copied?

Ans-: The LMS has an in built tool to detect if any part of your submission matches an
already existing paper. All students are advised to evaluate their assignment before
submitting.

Q 18. When do I see “Not Submitted “ against assignment on LMS?

Ans-: You will see “ Not Submitted “ if you have not submitted assignment.

Q 19. Can I register for exam only if I have submitted and cleared all his assignments?

Ans-: You can register for exam even if you have missed any assignments. If you clear
term end exam, you can carry forward the assignment to next semester. Please check
progression policy for details.

The course will only be completed when the you clear all assignments and all Term end
examination.

Q 20. Can I appear for term end examination and then submit assignments?

Ans-: The assignments have to be submitted by the due date announced which is before
the term end examination.

Q 21. If I am reappearing for any subject exam, does I need to redo the assignments?

Ans-: The marks of his last assignment submission will be carried forward.

Q 22. What is Dissertation work?

Ans-: All Degree students are required to complete a dissertation in the last semester of
the program. You are required to work under the general supervision of anyone with
specific specialisation meeting the criteria. The person must be a Postgraduate in the
field.

Q 24. What are the requirements of the dissertation work?

Ans-: The dissertation/project work must adhere to the following requirements:

 Address a pertinent issue within the discipline or across multiple disciplines.

 Incorporate a comprehensive review of current knowledge in the field through a


literature review.

 Demonstrate the student's own research e orts and findings.

 Display the student's ability to critically analyze and evaluate information.

 Exhibit satisfactory language, style, and formatting in its presentation

 Include a plagiarism check report generated by Turntin.

Q 25. What do I do if I fail to clear term end exam for a particular course?

Ans-: Supplementary examinations will be conducted to help you clear a particular


course. The university will charge a fee of Rs 1000 per course.

Q 26. What are the two components of results?

Ans-: The two components are:

1. Term end Examination

2. Assignments

Passing in both Term end Examination and Assignments is necessary to pass the
semester.

Q 27. What is weightage given to Term end examinations?

Ans-: The term end examinations carry a weightage of 70% or 70 marks out of 100.
Q 28. What is weightage given to assignments ?

Ans-: The assignments carry a weightage of 30%. Or 30 marks out of 100. All students
need to submit all assignments of the semester and clear them to pass the semester.

Q 29. How are exams conducted and proctored?

Ans-: All exams are conducted and proctored Online.

Q 30. What action is taken if I am suspected of cheating?

Ans-: If you are suspected of engaging in cheating in an exam, you will be allowed to
complete the exam while ensuring that evidence is collected. Proctor will report the
instance to the Examination Disciplinary Committee in writing along with recording as
proof. The committee checks the recording of the examination. If the o ence is proven,
a letter will be sent to you, saying that the exam is cancelled and is awarded Zero ( F
Grade ) in that subject. It is advised not to repeat the misconduct and clear the subject
in the next cycle.

Q 31. When are the results declared?

Ans-: The results are normally declared within six weeks after the last date of the term
end exam.

Q 32. How are the results declared?

Ans-: Results are declared via links that can be accessed on the student portal. The
information is shared by email.

Q 33. When will the student get his transcript and degree?

Ans-: The student will get the transcript and degree at the time of convocation.

Q 34. Can a student get marksheet / provisional certificate before convocation?

Ans-: The soft copy will be available on the student portal after 15 days of declaration of
results. You can get Hard copy of marksheet and provisional certificate on request
which will be sent to you on mail.

Q 35. Can I get marksheet for each semester?

Ans-: You can get semester wise marksheet on request.

Q 36. What does NR in the marksheet mean?

Ans-: NR means that the you are Not Rated in that subject because you have not
appeared for exam and not submitted assignment. If the marksheet shows NR even
though you have appeared for the end term exam, you have to inform Support team to
understand the cause.
Q 37. What does RPE mean in marksheet?

Ans-: RPE means Repeat End Term Examination

Q 38 What does RPA 1 and RPA 2 mean?

A. RPA 1 means Repeat Assignment 1 and RPA 2 means Repeat Assignment 2.

Q 39. What does “O” stands for?

Ans-: “ O” means Outstanding grade where student has achieved 90% and above in the
subject.

Q 40. What does “E” mean in marksheet?

Ans-: In marksheet “E” signifies that you are exempted from that subject.

Q 41. If I am not happy with the marks, can I ask for revaluation?

Ans-: If you are not satisfied with the marks, you can request for revaluation within
seven days from the publication of the result. The revaluation will consist of re-checking
the final exam answer sheet alone.

The results for revaluation will be published on the student portal with “change” or “No
change “ remarks.
