How To Create Chart
in Spreadsheet
How to create chart: -
1) Open Excel.
2) Enter the data from the sample data.
3) Select the worksheet you want to work with.
4) Select the cells you want to chart, including the column tles
and row labels.
5) Click the Insert tab.
6) Hover over each Chart op on in the Charts group. 7) Select one of
the Chart op ons.
8) Select a type of chart from the list that appears.
There are 8 types of charts in Ms Excel.
a. Column chart
b. Pie chart
c. Row chart
and many more….
Identifying parts of chart
a. Source data: -
The range of cells that make up a chart. The chart is updated
automa cally whenever the informa on in these cells’ changes.
b. Title: -
The tle of the chart.
c. Legend: -
The chart key, which iden fies what each color on the chart
represents.
d. Axis: -
The ver cal and horizontal parts of a chart. The ver cal axis is
o en referred to as the Y axis, and the horizontal axis is
referred to as the X axis.
Chart tools
Once you insert a chart, a new set of Chart Tools, arranged into
three tabs, will appear above the Ribbon. These are only visible
when the chart is selected.
To change chart types:
• Select the Design tab.
• Click the Change Chart Type command. A dialog box
appears.
To change chart layout:
• Select the Design tab.
• Locate the Chart Layouts group.
• Click the Quick Layout op on to view all layout op ons.
