SCHOOLERS
WEEK 19 , 3 HOURS
ANSWER SHEET
B. APPLICATION/ANALYSIS
1. Primary school-aged children, typically between the ages of 5 and 11, display a range of developmental
characteristics. Physically, they experience steady growth in height and weight, and their motor skills improve,
allowing for better coordination and dexterity. Cognitively, they begin to think more logically and understand
cause-and-effect relationships, with enhanced memory and attention spans. Socially, they develop stronger
relationships with peers, learn to cooperate, and become more empathetic. Emotionally, they start to manage
their emotions better and build self-esteem. Their language skills are growing rapidly, enabling more complex
communication. This stage is marked by significant growth across physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and
language domains, shaping their overall development.
2. To promote the pupils' socio-emotional well-being as a future elementary grades teacher, I can:
1. Create a Positive Classroom Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every
student feels safe and valued.
2. Encourage Open Communication: Promote honest and respectful communication, allowing students
to express their thoughts and feelings.
3. Teach Social Skills: Incorporate lessons on empathy, cooperation, and conflict resolution into your
curriculum.
4. Model Positive Behavior: Demonstrate kindness, patience, and respect in your interactions with
students and colleagues.
5. Provide Emotional Support: Be attentive to students' emotional needs and offer support and guidance
when necessary.
6. Recognize and Celebrate Achievements: Acknowledge and celebrate students' successes, both big
and small, to boost their self-esteem and confidence.
7. Promote Teamwork: Organize group activities and projects that encourage collaboration and teamwork.
8. Include Mindfulness Practices: Integrate mindfulness activities such as deep breathing, meditation, or
quiet reflection to help students manage stress and develop self-awareness.
9. Encourage Healthy Relationships: Guide students in building positive relationships with their peers
and adults.
10. Provide a Balance of Structure and Flexibility: Ensure a structured routine while allowing flexibility for
students to explore their interests and express their individuality.

3. The socio-emotional growth of primary schoolers is influenced by several key factors. A supportive family
environment and a positive school climate provide the foundation for emotional stability and a sense of belonging.
Peer relationships play a critical role; healthy friendships enhance social skills, while negative interactions can
lead to issues such as bullying. Teachers' support and encouragement are vital in nurturing emotional well-being
and building confidence. Cultural influences and participation in extracurricular activities help shape social
understanding and teamwork. Individual temperament and access to mental health resources also significantly
impact a child's ability to manage emotions and develop resilience. These factors combined create a nurturing
environment that supports the holistic socio-emotional development of young children.

5. As a teacher, here’s how I would approach helping this learner cope with her socio-emotional difficulties, I will
start by observing her interactions with peers during different school activities to understand better the dynamics
and triggers of her isolation and frustration. I will plan activities that require teamwork and collaboration ensuring
she is included and has a defined role that allows her to feel valued and involved. I will teach and reinforce social
skills through role-playing exercises and social stories to help her navigate friendships and interactions positively.
By taking these steps, I can help her build the skills and confidence needed to form positive relationships and
enjoy her school experience more fully.
6. I will provide him with more challenging tasks and enriching activities to keep him engaged and prevent
restlessness. This could include advanced reading materials or special projects. I will channel his leadership
tendencies positively by giving him roles and responsibilities that allow him to guide and help others
constructively, such as being a group leader during activities. I will integrate lessons that emphasize the
importance of empathy, respect, and teamwork, also I will encourage him to listen to others' ideas and work
collaboratively. By taking these steps, I can help her son use his strengths constructively, fostering a more
positive and collaborative environment both in school and at home.
