The period of time spent in that country must be stated in months and/or years. When
assessing your eligibility for Medicare, residency is defined as a period of 6 months or more.
You may change your answer on the application form, but you must initial the change. If you
have departed Australia, we will accept an email, letter or a completed Commonwealth
statutory declaration form confirming the changes to your application. You can get a copy of
this form by going to ag.gov.au
What you need to do
You need to submit a complete and correct Application for a Medicare Entitlement Statement
(MS015) form with all the required information including those requested above. See details on
