TOPIC 1

Part 1: Describe a person who has had great contributions to your country

Celebrities have always attracted great public attention all over the world,
and I’d like to tell you about a renowned Vietnamese singer.
Her name is My Tam and she’s been considered as the most successful
singer, songwriter and musical director of Vietnam for over two decades.
Since her debut in the late 90s, she has received numerous awards, including
the ‘Artist of the Year’ for two consecutive years. I still remember when I was
a little girl, I was obsessed with her first major hit “Toc Nau Moi Tram” in her
album Endless Love, which sold thousands of copies nationwide. It stands to
reason why My Tam is the queen of V-Pop. She’s got a deep, powerful and
distinctive voice that fits her into a variety of genres, including pop, dance
and rock.
Despite being one of the most popular artists, My Tam’s never stopped
learning to give flawlessconcerts and performances. She even collaborated
with a Korean music producer since she was unsatisfied with Vietnamese
recording and studio techniques. As far as I know, she also took more vocal
training, dance lessons and expanded her music genres. Interestingly, she
has also been the coach for many big music contests, one of which is The
Voice of Vietnam.
As opposed to other famous artists, she is known to lead a frugal life and
made great contributions to various charitable causes throughout her career.
She established the My Tam Foundation, a charity that has gone on helping
the underprivileged in many parts of our country.
Part 2:

1. Who is responsible for a child’s academic success, the parents or the teachers? Why?

2. ҅Parents look after their children from the cradle to the grave’. What is your opinion?

A: Hello, nice to meet you

B: Hi, I'm very happy too

A: I have a big question, can you answer it for me?

B: Oh, you say it

A: In your opinion: Who is responsible for a child's academic success?

B: The responsibility for a child's academic success is shared between parents and teachers. Parents
play an important role in providing a supportive home environment, instilling discipline, and
nurturing a love of learning. On the other hand, teachers are responsible for providing quality
education, nurturing students' talents, and providing guidance. Both parents and teachers
complement each other in determining their academic work.

B: Oh, I think your idea is very good!

A: Can I ask more?

B: Ok, no problem

A: "Parents take care of their children from birth to grave." What's your opinion?

B: I do not agree with this view, it is true that parents have a significant influence on their children's
lives, but it is necessary for each individual to develop independence and self-reliance when growing
up. Parents only provide support and guidance throughout their child's life, but ultimately, each
individual needs to take responsibility for his or her own decisions and actions as an adult.

A: I understand, thank you for answering the question in my heart

B: Nothing. If there's nothing else, I'll go first. Goodbye

A: Okay. Goodbye

TOPIC 2

Part 1: Describe a teacher who you really love and admire

The teacher I really admire is my English teacher. Her name is P.

I like her because she is very helpful, considerate, sympathetic and responsible. She is always
there when we need her. She has a very effective method of teaching which helps to improve our
studying skill. After work, she often tells us about her life. Almost members in my English class
love her because she is a very kind and friendly.

She was been our teacher for 2 years. We learnt three days a week. She taught us 4 skills of
English: listening, speaking, reading and writing. When we took English course, we learnt a lot, so
my English improved and got better.

Part 2:

1. What can students learn at university?

2. In life, experience and ability are more important than qualifications. Do you agree or not?
Explain.

A: Hello Thanh. Long time no see.

B: Hello Hue.

A: Where do you study now?

B: I'm studying at Duy Tan University

A: Oh. Are you currently a 2nd year student?

B: That's right.

A: After 2 years of studying at school, can you answer for me what students can learn at university?

B: Oh, students learn many different subjects and skills in school. In addition to academic knowledge
in specific fields, the college also offers opportunities for personal and professional development. So
what are your thoughts?
A: I also agree with you. In addition, students also learn critical thinking, problem-solving,
communication skills, teamwork, and time management.

A: Let me ask one more question, do you agree with the statement: “In life, experience and ability
are more important than qualifications”

B: In my opinion, all three factors above are important. Although qualifications are necessary and
important, I think experience and ability are equally important. If you only have a degree without
ability, it will lead to not gaining any experience.

A: You're right, I see a lot of incompetent people, but there are also a lot of really good people who
can create a company, some as directors, some as presidents.

B: That's right, we can't claim that every degree is important

A: Thank you for helping me get the answer

B: Nothing

TOPIC 3

Part 1: Describe a place which you think people should visit

Da Nang is a wonderful city in Central Vietnam, with many attractive tourist attractions that
everyone should visit. The beauty of My Khe beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world
with fine white sand and clear blue sea water.

In addition, Son Tra peninsula is also a destination not to be missed with majestic natural scenery,
primeval forests, and the beacon of Da Nang. The old city of Hoi An is also a famous tourist
destination with its ancient architecture, lantern old town, and peaceful atmosphere.

It is impossible not to mention the Dragon Bridge with its impressive architecture and sparkling LED
lighting system at night. In addition, the Han River also creates an airy, romantic space for tourists
when visiting Da Nang.

With unique cultural, culinary, and natural destinations, Da Nang will definitely be the ideal
destination for everyone who wants to enjoy an enjoyable vacation.

Part 2:

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being rich?

2. What are your thoughts about this saying? ´Wealth is like sea-water; the more we drink, the
thirstier we become; and the same true of fame.’

A: Hello Thanh

B: Hi Hue

A: I heard you just came back from a trip?

B: That's right, I just returned from traveling in Europe for 2 months

A: Wow, 2 months

B: yes

A: Did you learn anything after the trip?

B: Yes, I learned a lesson about the advantages and disadvantages of being rich

A: Oh, so what are the benefits of being rich?

B: Benefits are the ability to afford a comfortable lifestyle with access to goods; Self-improvement
through access to education, travel and experiences; More choices and freedom to pursue, interests
and passions without financial constraints.

A: Oh, these benefits are amazing

B: Well, if you feel great then do you know the disadvantages of being rich?

A: I think there will be a loss of humility and empathy

B: Additionally, there will be increased pressure and expectations from others, leading to feelings of
isolation and doubt; Difficulty distinguishing genuine relationships from those seeking to exploit
wealth; There is a higher risk of being targeted for theft, fraud or exploitation.

A: That's great, so what do you think about this statement? ‘Wealth is like sea water; The more we
drink, the thirstier we become; and so is fame.”

B: The desire to be famous is like seawater. This saying is correct and reasonable. I think sometimes
a person wants to be famous so much that they can do things that are against ethics. For example, if
a girl wants to become a famous singer, she can accept to trade her purity to have a relationship
with a show host.

A: Looks like your 2 monthly trip was not wasted, thank you for giving me more information that I
need to know

B: Nothing

TOPIC 4

Part 1: Describe the favorite school that you have gone to

My favorite school that I ever attended was a district high school. This school is located in a peaceful,
green countryside with large spaces, green lawns and lush vegetation. The school has traditional
architecture with ancient buildings and a large stadium.

A special feature of the school is the learning environment that encourages students' creative
freedom. Teachers here are very dedicated, friendly and support students in every aspect. In
addition, the school also has many attractive extracurricular activities such as literature, music,
sports clubs, student council, and social volunteer programs.

I always feel happy and proud to be a student of this school because I can not only study but also
experience good cultural, moral, and social values.

Part 2:

1. What are the right and wrong things to do in public places in your culture?

2. What are the good ways to improve communication skill?

A: Hi Thanh

B: Hello Hue, how are you?

A: I'm fine, I recently traveled to your hometown in Vietnam

B: Really? How do you see my country?

A: Great, everything is new

B: Which city did you visit?

A: I came to Da Nang city

B: Oh my god, that's the city I live in

A: Oh wow, what a coincidence

B: When you went there, did you realize that our country's culture should and should not be in
public places?

A: I don't really know, what I observed is that everyone respects each other, is always polite to each
other, and always helps each other.

B: Exactly, your eye is very sharp. So what about what shouldn't be done?

A: I guess it's not a good idea to litter, be selfish and not help others, be noisy and disrupt order,
right?

B: Well, I must say it's great of you to list these things out. So, did you learn communication skills
after the trip?

A: I have improved in listening to others, speaking concisely and clearly, empathy and
understanding, and especially confidence.

B: Wow, congratulations on learning those things in my hometown

A: Thank you

TOPIC 5

Part 1: Describe a thing or an object that you wish to have

I'm going to describe my mobile phone. I bought it in a mobile phone shop, it was a present from
dad

I use the phone to keep in touch with friends and family and to communicate by voice, text, and
email. It has various features like video, MP3 player, wireless Internet, digital camera and games. It's
easy to share photos and music. I use it for almost everything, it even has a calendar that reminds
me about appointments.

My phone is an essential part of my life. It holds my contacts, my photos, and my music collection.
I've got instant access to my favorite websites. It's like having my whole life in my pocket. I couldn't
live without it.

Part 2:

1. What are main differences between men and women?

2. What are gender roles, and how have they changed in your country?
A: Hello Thanh

B: Hi Hue

A: I heard you recently gave a presentation on gender, how did you feel after that lesson?

B: Not very well, I gave my opinion but the teacher said it wasn't convincing enough

A: Oh, what did you say?

B: I'm talking about biological differences, men usually have higher levels of testosterone, while
women have higher levels of estrogen. And then the teacher said, "What about LGBT and Lesbians?"
The teacher asked me to find out more convincing information.

A: Maybe the teacher is right, in addition to talking about biology, we can also talk about differences
in communication styles, social roles, emotions, cognition,...

B: Yeah, how could I ignore it like that?

A: If you already have the answer, do you understand what gender roles are and how they have
changed in your country?

B: Gender roles: are the behaviors that society expects of men and women related to the gender
characteristics and abilities that society considers to belong to men or women. They change from
one culture to another in a specific context of a society, determined by social, historical, religious,
and economic factors.

A: Exactly, you're a really smart person when it comes to this role.

B: Thanks
