1 -Please provide us with all references written from Euro Code for performing Borehole with 1.5 of
Diameter, also what stated in BS 5930

BS 5930, clause 17.7.1 refers to BS EN 1997 -Annex B, for minimum depth of investigation points.
BS EN 1997, clause B.3 point No 6 says that equal or greater than 1.5 diameter for raft foundation
and structures with several foundation elements whose effect in deeper strata are superimposed
on each other. corresponding screen shots are mentioned in the below.

Reply : Kindly find below our internal reply as follows;

intend to disagree to ACWA request to extend the BH under the water tanks to 1.5 times the tank
diameter for the following reasons:
1. This concept is applicable for isolated footings whereas the least footing dimension is considered.
2. The soil stratification /properties at site is already investigated and known through the original tender
soil investigation campaign done in 2022 and 2023
3. The soil encountered starts with very dense sand from 10 meters to15 meters whereas sandstone is
encountered to the end of the boreholes.
4. The influence of the tank stress is expected to be minimal at the proposed BH depth of 30 meters in
the sandstone layer.

2- Kindly note that, all Boreholes were finalized on site according to the Geotechnical Program
REV.00 except BH-19:22, BH-01, and BH-12, So Please update the Program and add many additional
requirements.

As two tanks (90 m diameter each) are already existing (as per the plot plan shared to us) the
proposed borehole locations (…) are shifted to other locations as shown in updated program.
OC Reply : Please keep the location of Boreholes and CPTUs as is, as I told you in our previous Mail, All CPTU are
finalized, Just Boreholes 19: 22 is pending on site.

submitted from client concerning their comments in Geotechnical Program as per the attached sheet Excel.

Also find below the reply on our formal letter as follows;

With reference to the Limited Notice to Proceed (hereafter referred to as the “LNTP”) entered
into between Acwa Power Company (hereafter called the “Owner”), Acwa Power Water
Projects Limited (hereafter called “ACWA Water”), Orascom Constructions Turnkey Projects
LLC (hereafter called “Orascom”) and Societe International de Dessalement (Hereafter called
“SIDEM”) with SIDEM and Orascom together being referred to as the “EPC Contractor”, dated
18 September 2024.
The Owner acknowledged the Contractor has submitted a document entitled “Technical
Proposal for Complementary Geotechnical works for Hamriyah SWRO Desalination Plant in
Sharjah, U.A.E.” dated October 2024 and referenced ARE3001-A001-GZZ-&CEC-50001-A.
The Owner notes this document references Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority as the
Owner. They are not the Owner of this project and should not be referenced in this document.
Furthermore, the Contractor on the project is both SIDEM and Orascom, as such both SIDEM
and Orascom’s logos and names should appear on this and any future reports on the Project.

Also, I have shared before with Fichtner proposal from our partner which is as follows;
1. Electrical and thermal resistivity will be around Electrical Buildings and UG Cable Duct.
2. Seismic Test such as Down Hole.

Also, Provide us with number of Piezometer needed.

Finally, Provide us with your another findings from geotechnical Point of view to be discussed.
