Single Li-ion Battery Charger With Thermal Regulation
■ General Description ■ Features
The XT2058 is a complete constant-current /constant Programmable charge current up to 800mA
-voltage linear charger for single cell Li-ion battery. Its Thin No MOSFET,sense resistor or blocking diode
SOP package and low external component count make the required
XT2058 ideally suited for portable applications. Complete linear charger in thinSOP package for
No external sense resistor is needed, and no blocking single cell Li-ion battery
diode is required due to the internal MOSFET architecture. Constant-current/constant-voltage operation with
Thermal feedback regulates the charge current to limit the thermal regulation to maximize charge rate without
die temperature during high power operation or high risk of overheating
ambient temperature. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, Preset 4.2V charge voltage
and the charge current can be programmed externally with Voltage accuracy of ± 1%

■ Pin Function
NC(Pin 1/6): Not connect.
PROG (Pin 2): Charge current program, charge current monitor and shutdown pin. The charge current is programmed by
connecting a 1% resistor, RPROG to ground. When charging in constant-current mode, this pin servos to 1V. In all modes,
the voltage on this pin can be used to measure the charge current using the following formula :
IBAT = (VPROG/RPROG)×1000
The PROG pin can also be used to shutdown the charger. Disconnecting the program resistor from ground allows a 3µA
current to pull the PROG pin high.
CHRG (Pin 3): CMOS charge status output. When the battery is charging, the CHRG pin is high. When the charge cycle
is completed or other abnormal situation occurs, the CHRG is set in high impedance state.
DONE (Pin 4): Full indication output. When fully charged, DONE port is placed in high position. In the charging process or
other abnormal situation occurs, theDONE is set in high impedance state.
GND (Pin 5): Ground.
VDD (Pin 7): Positive input supply voltage. Provides power to the charger. VCC can range from3.8V to 6.8V and should
be bypassed with at least a 1µF capacitor.
BAT (Pin 8): Charge current output. Provides charge current to the battery and regulates the final float voltage to 4.2V.
