CHAPTER V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, conclusion and recommendations

This chapter present the study summary of findings conclusion and above all

recommendations which are the authentic output of the study.

This study seek to know the importance of population growth on agriculture in the

future .

Summary of findings

Using questionnaire checklist of likert scale the study yielded the following:

1. Based on the responses received, it can be concluded that the

application growth in agriculture. One of the primary benefits in the ease work

agricultural productivity” by Rambod Abiri a Nastaran Rizan b

Siva K. Balasundram b

Arash Bayat Shahbazi

Hazandy Abdul-Hamid (2011)Over the decades, agri-food security has

become one of the most critical concerns in the world. Sustainable agri-food

production technologies have been reliable in mitigating poverty caused by high

demands for food. Recently, the applications of agri-food system technologies

have been meaningfully changing the worldwide scene due to both external

strengths and internal forces. Digital agriculture (DA) is a pioneering technology

helping to meet the growing global demand for sustainable food production.

Integrating different sub-branches of DA technologies such as artificial

intelligence, automation and robotics, sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) and data

analytics into agriculture practices to reduce waste, optimize farming inputs and

enhance crop production. This can help shift from tedious operations to

continuously automated processes, resulting in increasing agricultural production

by enabling the traceability of products and processes. The application of DA

provides agri-food producers with accurate and real-time observations regarding

different features influencing their productivity, such as plant health, soil quality,

weather conditions, and pest and disease pressure. Analyzing the results

achieved by DA can help agricultural producers and scholars make better

decisions to increase yields, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and manage

resources. The core focus of the current work is to clarify the benefits of some

sub-branches of DA in increasing agricultural production efficiency, discuss the

challenges of practical DA in the field, and highlight the future perspectives of

DA. This review paper can open new directions to speed up the DA application

on the farm and link traditional agriculture with modern farming technologies.
2. Finding related to the benefits of Population growth, increasing

urbanization, modern technology, and climate change are transforming the world

at a rapid pace. One of the biggest challenges today is ending hunger and

poverty while making agriculture and food systems sustainable (Kamal, 2017).

This challenge seems difficult due to the continued population growth, profound

changes in food demand, and the threat of extensive migration of rural young

people in search of a better life. Over the years, the concept of food security has

evolved through many concepts, from the idea of existing food stocks in the

1970s to the concept of self-sufficiency in food production during the 1980s, and

to access to food (at the individual as well as household level) in the 1990s.

Thus, according to Reddy et al. (2016)

latest concept used by the global food security panelists is the following: “the

right to adequate food.

Conclusion

1. The surveyed questionnaire reveals that the. Population growth can

affect the productivity of different crops and livestock. The Population growth

presents a significant challenge for agriculture, but it also drives innovation and

adaptation. By embracing sustainable practices, investing in technology,

improving resource management, and addressing food waste, we can meet the

increasing food demand while minimizing environmental impacts and promoting

food security for all.

2. The surveyed questionnaire highlights the population growth to the

farmers. Population growth presents a complex set of challenges and

opportunities for farmers. They must adapt to changing conditions, adopt new

technologies, and find ways to produce food sustainably. While the challenges

are significant, population growth also creates a demand for agricultural products

and drives innovation, which can benefit farmers in the long run.

3. The survey findings indicates that the population growth to the

farmers income. Population growth has a complex and often contradictory impact

on farmers’ income. While a larger population generally leads to increased

demand for food, which can benefit farmers, the effects are not always

straightforward. Population growth presents both opportunities and challenges for

farmers. While it can drive demand and create new markets, it also brings about

complexities that require adaptation and innovation to ensure sustainable and

profitable agricultural practices.

4.
Implications

Population growth in the future will have profound implications across various

aspects of society, from resource management and economic development to social

structures and environmental sustainability. A larger population will inevitably lead to

increased demand for resources such as food, water, energy, and land. This will put

pressure on existing resources, potentially leading to shortages and price increases.

Increased resource consumption and industrial activity to support a growing population

can exacerbate environmental degradation, including deforestation, pollution, and

climate change. Population growth contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, further

intensifying climate change and its impacts on agriculture, water resources, and human

health. Population growth will continue to be a significant factor shaping the future, with

both positive and negative implications. Sustainable development, technological

innovation, and global cooperation will be crucial for managing the challenges of

population growth and creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all. The

future of population growth will depend on various factors, including fertility rates,

mortality rates, migration patterns, and the effectiveness of policies aimed at managing

these trends.
Recommendations

Reduce Food Loss and Waste: Implement strategies to minimize food loss

throughout the supply chain, from farm to fork. This includes improving storage facilities,

reducing post-harvest losses, and promoting efficient transportation networks

Improve Food Distribution: Enhance food distribution systems to ensure

equitable access to nutritious food for all. This involves addressing logistical challenges,

reducing transportation costs, and promoting fair trade practices.

Reduce Meat Consumption: Advocate for a reduction in meat consumption,

particularly red meat, which has a high environmental impact. This can be achieved

through education, incentives, and policy changes

Promote Precision Agriculture: Implement technologies like sensors, drones, and

data analytics to optimize resource use, minimize waste, and maximize yields. This

allows for targeted application of inputs, reducing environmental impact and increasing

efficiency

Rice crops: The study can provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by

Farmers in rice crop production, such as pests, diseases, water scarcity, and climate
change. This information can be used to develop improved rice varieties, farming

practices.
