There are two common ways of telling the time.

1) Say the hour first and then the minutes.


(Hour + Minutes)
•6:25 - It's six twenty-five
•8:05 - It's eight O-five (the O is said like the
letter O)
•9:11 - It's nine eleven
•2:34 - It's two thirty-four
2) Say the minutes first and then
the hour. (Minutes + PAST / TO +
Hour)

For minutes 1-30 we use PAST after


the minutes.
For minutes 31-59 we use TO after the
minutes.

2:35 - It's twenty-five to three


11:20 - It's twenty past eleven
4:18 - It's eighteen past four
8:51 - It's nine to nine
2:59 - It's one to three

Nouns and Adjectives
Many times, when we are talking about the weather, we can add the
letter Y to the end of a noun to make it an adjective.

•sun (noun) - sunny (adjective)
•wind (noun) - windy (adjective)-
•cloud (noun) - cloudy (adjective)
•fog (noun) - foggy (adjective)
Questions about the weather
People commonly ask about the weather by saying:

•What's it like out(side)? Cómo está afuera


•How's the weather? Como está el clima?
•What's the weather like?
•What's the temperature? Cúal es la temperatura?
•What's the weather forecast?
•What's the forecast for tomorrow? Cual es el pronostico del tiempo para mañana
We use a thermometer to measure
the temperature of something.
Temperature is usually measured in
degrees.

•28°C (o más) - Hot: 28°C (o más) - Caluroso


•15 to 28°C - Warm: 15 a 28°C - Cálido
•10 to 15°C - Cool: 10 a 15°C - Fresco
•5 to 10°C - Chilly: 5 a 10°C – Frío
