LEARNING OBJECTIVES
M At the end of the lesson, all pupils will be able to blend phonemes to form words with support.
C At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to spell at least 8 words accurately.
1. Put a few classroom objects on a table.
2. Give them 1 minute to look at the objects and remember the objects.
I. PRE-LESSON 3. Hide the objects. Make true/false statements (e.g. The pencil is red).
4. Pupils tell you if your statements are true or false, and correct false
statements.
1. Show flashcards of classroom objects.
2. Pupils read the words.
3. Sound out the words (e.g. b-u-k).
4. Pupils listen and follow.
5. Repeat with other words.
6. Show pupils your completed word search example and elicit what it is.
II. LESSON
7. Pupils now create their own word searches on the computer in pairs.
DEVELOPMENT
a. Low level: Pupils refer to textbook for words from the unit.
b. High level: Pupils use words from the unit so far.

8. Allow pupils to check the spelling of the words in the textbook.
9. Pairs print and exchange word searches to complete each other’s.
