Speaking test
– Part 1 –
What has been your most interesting travel experience? (Why?)
Not so long ago, my friends and i went hiking in Jura, here in France, and it was a
phenomenal experience. Simply the fact of forgetting about our phones, being
reconnected with nature and just being surrounded by the people u feel comfortable with.
On a more profound level, the takeaway for me was that a simple hike with your friend can
be an extremely rewarding experience that will create lasting memories
If you would travel to one country in the world, where would you go?
There’s one country in particular that fascinates me because of its history and it’s
Singapore. I would love visiting it to witness with my own eyes the splendour of this
(thriving) metropolitan city that a few decades ago was a third world county.
What did you like most about the area where you grew up?
I grew up in Portugal, a country renowned for its warm climate and stunning coastline.
Living in a city by the ocean, one of my favourite things about growing up there was going
to the beach, feeling the ocean breeze, and playing with my dad in the water. "
What free time activity do you most enjoy … (why?)?
I enjoy reading classic or profound books that aren't overly simplistic. I appreciate books
with metaphors and other literary devices that require analysis to delve deeper into the
author's thoughts.
Have you celebrated anything recently?
The 31st my friends and I hosted a soirée in my house, which we had adorned with eerie
items like cobwebs, skeletons. We played some games, talked, and enjoy dinner. Overall, it
was a great party, and great way to unwind after the first months of school.
Do you prefer to get the news from newspapers, television or the internet?
(Why?)
Nowadays, especially because of the bubble effect, I believe it’s crucial to check multiple
sources of information, to minimise bias. And that is why I would personally use internet. It
offers a variety of sources/ perspectives.
How important do you think it is to speak more than one language? (Why?)
In my opinion fluency in multiple languages is crucial, as it significantly expands one’s
access to information and learning opportunities. For instance, a multilingual person could
easily delve into a book or article that isn’t translated to that person’s native-tongue
