History of
performing
Arts
The perfection is not so much in the performance as
in the journey towards it. This is the joy. You must
burn!
Where does
it begins?
The terms ‘performance’ and ‘performance art’
only became widely used in the 1970s
Throughout the twentieth century performance
was often seen as a non-traditional way of
making art. Live-ness, physical movement and
impermanence offered artists alternatives to
the static permanence of painting and
sculpture.
In the post-war period performance became
aligned with conceptual art, because of its often
immaterial nature.
Where does
it begins?
Now an accepted part of the visual art world, the
term has since been used to also describe film,
video, photographic and installation-based
artworks through which the actions of artists,
performers or the audience are conveyed.
More recently, performance has been
understood as a way of engaging directly with
social reality, the specifics of space and the
politics of identity. It is a set of questions and
concerns about how art relates to people and
the wider social world

What makes Performing Arts so
much exciting to watch
Time
Refers to the movement of performer through time,
and specifically within relationship to the music,
tempo, meter, or rhythm. Force refers to the energy,
dynamism, and intensity of each movement.
Space
Refers to the movement of the dancers through
physical space, including both horizontal and vertical
directionality.
Performance
in medium
It is the style, the art and on how you're going to express your
performance with creativity and passion. The body's becomes the
instruments through which the art is created. The quality of this art,
therefore, necessarily depends on the physical qualities and skills
that the performer possess.
Connection
It is the relationship and deep connection of the performer to the
audience. When we share our art, it offers people a glimpse into the
richness and depth that lie beneath the professional exterior — not
just the creativity and talent, but also the sensitivity, vulnerability
and very human side of the performance.
