Introduction

The following presentation gives information and insights about the


problem faced during the placements of students. The topics discussed
are about what solutions can be used to fight a problem like low
placement conversion rates, what steps can be taken to help the
students meet companies expectations and how can the number of
students getting placed be increased. During the placement both
students and companies are facing various problems like some students
are lacking soft skills and many students make it till the 2 round but
usually are getting rejected in the third round or are kept on hold. Some
possible solutions to tackle the problem are discussed further in the
presentation.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

 1. To start with first as a member of placement cell I will try to find out the route cause behind the low placement conversion
rates I will talk to the HRs and recruiters about the performance of students where are they exactly lacking behind in .
What are the expectations of the company from the freshers etc .I will check various data and try to analyse how many
students are able to clear what level of rounds of recruitment. How many students reach final stage. How many get
rejected in the first stage itself etc . Then I will compare the data with previous years . I will look for the mistakes that the
previous batch didn’t do and which we are doing . I will make my students talk to their senior who got placed in the
previous years to keep them motivated and to help them find and learn from their mistakes
 Secondly I can keep a 2-3 days workshop for my batchmates in which the whole teams of placement cell will be thoroughly
going through each and everyones resumes and suggesting the some good points for an attractive resume and can tell
them to remove the unnecessary points which make the resumes unattractive. We will talk to experts and try some ways
to improve resumes of the students. Secondly we can conduct sample interview for our students in which we can take
interview from them . We can ask them and prepare them for commonly asked questions like introduce yourself etc
which will improve their confidence, negotiation and communication skills as well. We can prepare them for negotiation
questions in the sample interview. In the interview we can also keep a check on dressing sense of the students can
address them on the importance of the dressings sense as it also plays a major role deciding the personality of a person.
We can also teach them about some good tips and tricks for the interview and group discussion rounds. We can also call
some experts so that they can interact with the students to help them crack the interview.We can show students videos
of some sample interview and teach them how to attend the interview what to do when you don’t know the answer
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

 I will request employer to be a little liberal towards the fresher's and keep them under at least 1 month of training period so they
can meet companies expectations .The current business environment is constantly changing in nature and the training will
help them to understand the business trends better. I will try to explain the employer they are just third year students and as
the education system teaches us they are quite through with their books but as communicate and negotiation was never a
part of the curriculum some Little inefficiency is ignorable. Not only this I will request the employer to kindly let me know their
expectations and skills from the students and I will also ask them where the students can learn these skills from and I will
assure the employer that when they arrive the next year we will try our best to teach students the required skills by the
company so that both students and companies can get benefitted. We ourselves will give different case study questions so
that students can understand the Market conditions in a better way their problem solving and negotiation skills can be
improved we will teach them about the business environment and how to tackle the changes and give them real life problems
in workshop. This will help us to maintain healthy relations with the employers and HRs assuring them that we are realizing
the needs of changing market conditions and business trends and we would come with a great comeback next year. This will
encourage HRs to comeback next year again .
 I will also offer to collaborate with the company to teach and train the students for some period of time and teach them the
required skills for the job about the Market trends, negotiation, communication, computer skills etc. and after the training
period company can provide actual placements to the students who are outperforming in the given tasks. This can provide
company with some hidden gems, some students with placement and others with experience. After all if we teach the
students with good IQ they can perform even far better than expectations
 And if a lot of students are getting rejected at the third round we as a team will select students on our behalf and preliminary
screen the students on basis of qualification, tests ,IQ and only the capable students who are meeting the requirements will
be sent for further round to avoid unnecessary rejection which is frustrating for students and company as well.
Conclusion

 1 I will ask the employer where students are lacking and try to explain the same reason to students
 2 I will first take demo interview in which I will check soft skills, resumes and culturally fit outfits etc.
I will give them session on common interview questions, how to attend interview what to reply
when you don’t know the answer.
 3 I will request employer to be a little liberal towards the fresher's and ask employer the necessary
skills and will teach the skills to next year students and assure employer for a better comeback
next year. I will request employer to keep talented and capable and selected students under at
least 1 month of training period so they can meet companies expectations
 4 And if a lot of students are getting rejected at the third round we as a team will select students on
our behalf and only the capable students who are meeting the requirements will be sent for
further rounds
