Introduction
Nowadays security is the main concern. Each and every individual needs to feel secure. The main entrances,
lockers, cabinets, etc should be protected with some kind of security systems. Doors locked using the
conventional locks are not as safe as they used to be in the past, nowadays anyone can easily break-in by
breaking these locks. The password-based door lock system allows only authorized persons to access the
restricted areas. The entire project is controlled by using the Arduino. A 4×4 or 4×3 keypad can be used to enter
the desired password.

COMPONENTS
ARDUINO UNO

The Arduino Uno is an open-source microcontroller board based on the Microchip ATmega328P
microcontroller and developed by Arduino.cc. The board is equipped with sets of digital and analog
input/output (I/O) pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards (shields) and other circuits. The
board has 14 digital I/O pins (six capable of PWM output), 6analog I/O pins, and is programmable with the
Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment), via a type B USB cable. It can be powered by the USB
cable or by an external 9-volt battery though it accepts voltages between 7 and 20 volts. It is similar to the
Arduino Nano and Leona.

MICRO SERVO

A micro servo is a small, lightweight servo motor often used in projects requiring precise control of rotational
motion, such as robotics, RC models, and Arduino-based devices. Micro servos typically operate within a
standard 180° or 360° range of motion and are valued for their compact size and efficiency.

BUZZER
A buzzer is an electronic signaling device that produces a buzzing or beepingsound. It is often used
in various applications, such as alarms, timers, and notification systems, to audibly alert or indicate
a specific event or condition.

Fig.3

CONNECTING WIRE

A wire is a thin, flexible strand or rod of metal, typically made of copper or aluminum, used for
conducting electricity or transmitting signals in electricalcircuits. Wires are essential components
in various electronic and electricalsystems, forming connections between components and enabling
the flow ofelectric current.

LCD DISPLAY

An LCD display (Liquid Crystal Display) is a screen technology widely used in various devices, including
watches, calculators, TVs, monitors, and embedded systems. It operates by manipulating liquid crystals to
control the passage of light and form images or characters.

KEY PAD

A keypad is an input device used to enter data or commands. It typically consists of a matrix of buttons (keys)
arranged in rows and columns, commonly found in devices like ATMs, calculators, phones, and embedded
systems.

CONCLUSION

The password-protected door lock system is an effective and reliable method of securing access to a physical
space. It is simple to design and implement, making it ideal for small-scale applications like home automation
or office security.

• Advantages:

1. Ease of Use: Entering a numeric password is straightforward.
2. Low Cost: Uses readily available components.
3. Customizable: The system can be upgraded with additional features, such as RFID, biometric
authentication, or remote control.
4. Automation Potential: Integrates well with smart home systems for enhanced convenience.

• Future Enhancements:

1. Encryption: To protect against hacking during password validation.
2. Dual Authentication: Combining the keypad with biometric verification (e.g., fingerprint
scanner) for higher security.
3. Logging System: Tracks attempts and alerts the owner about unauthorized access attempts.
4. Wireless Connectivity: Allows remote management through a smartphone app.
