REPLACEMENT
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (–) battery terminal to pre-
vent airbag activation.
2. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB–ASSY NO. 1 (See page 13–37 or 13–42)
3. 1KD–FTV:
REMOVE CHARGE AIR COOLER ASSY W/ INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR (See page 13–42)
4. 2KD–FTV:
REMOVE AIR CLEANER PIPE SUB–ASSY NO. 2 (See page 13–37)
(d) 5. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE BRACKET

Disconnect the 2 connectors.

Disconnect the connector.

9. REMOVE EGR PIPE SUB–ASSY NO. 1
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts, pipe and 2 gaskets.

10. REMOVE EGR VALVE ASSY
(a) Remove the EGR valve and gasket.
11. INSTALL EGR VALVE ASSY
(a) Install a new gasket and the EGR valve.
12. INSTALL EGR PIPE SUB–ASSY NO. 1
(a) Install 2 new gaskets and the pipe with the 2 nuts and 2
bolts.
Torque: 13 N⋅m (133 kgf⋅cm, 10 ft⋅lbf)
HINT:
The gasket’s claws should be on the pipe side.

13. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR

Torque: 20 N⋅m (204 kgf⋅cm, 25 ft⋅lbf)
