UNIT 3

3A
1. How far do you travel to school?
 My house is in Ha Dong district, near Aeon Mall Ha Dong. It is 10km from my
house to my university. Everyday, I usually go to university by my own
motorbike. It takes me 20 minutes to go there.
2. Have you ever used the public transportation?
 I haven't ever used the public transportation because I have my own motobike
and I always use it to go out with my friend, to go to school. When I need go far
away, I usually book Grab car so I barely use public transportations
3. Which means of transportation is the most popular in Vietnam?
 When talking about the most common means of transportation in Viet Nam, I
guess it's probably motorbikes. Approximately, each Vietnamese adult
possesses a motorbike to commute more quickly and conveniently. Also, when
you go out, you can see a lot of people riding motorbikes on the road.
4. Did you ride a bike to school when you were a kid?
 No, I didn’t. When I was a child, all of my school are near my house so I
always walk to school. Sometimes, my mother also took me to school by
bicycle, but most of the time I still walked to school alone.
5. Can you ride a motorbike?
 Yes, I can ride a motorbike since I was a high school student. My high school I
studied is far from my home so I must ride a motorbike to go to school. It is a
convenient mode of transportation.
6. Why do some people hate using public transportation?
 I’m not sure but I think that people hate using public transprtation because it
can often be crowded, especially during peak hours, which some individuals
may find uncomfortable. Another reason is that public transportations are not as
safe as private cars and some criminal activities on public buses or trains are
still being reported.
7. How can we encourage more people to take public transportation?
 I think it’s not easy to require people to commute by public transportation
instead of their private one, but there are still ways to do that. The first thing
coming to mind is that the number of public modes of transport with better
service quality have to be increased. Besides, it’s the government’s
responsibility to raise public awareness about the importance of environment

3
protection through small actions like taking public transport. As a result, people
can realize the big benefits of taking public transportation.
8. Would you like to ride a bike to work in the future?
 First of all, cycling means that I have to expose myself to unpredictable weather
and to air pollution. Besides, main streets are too dangerous for cyclists, since
cars, motorbikes, and buses usually travel at a very high speed. Hence, I will
opt to go on a motorbike or a bus instead.
9. What are the differences between traveling by plane and traveling by train?
 Generally speaking, traveling by plane is faster and more convenient, but can be
more expensive and stressful. On the other hand, traveling by train is usually
cheaper and more comfortable, but can take much longer.
10. Are there any transport problems in your city?
 Of course, yes, traffic congestion is the biggest problem in Hanoi, especially in
rush hours, there are usual long lines of vehicles on the street. I believe, it’s a
total waste of time and money.
11. How would we improve that problem?
 Truth be told, it’s a tough question. But i suppose, we should use public
vehicles instead of our private cars if we could. Besides, the government should
allocate more budgets updating the road system.
12. What will become the most popular means of transport in your country?
 I think buses will take the lead. You can travel the distance without much
worries about ticket price or rainy weather outside. Also, new buses now offer
better services like comfortable seats for the elderly or good air conditioning
systems.
3B
1. How do you usually get around in your hometown?
 I get around my city by motorbike most of the time. Motorbikes are the most

through the often congested and narrow streets. I have used this means of
transport for 4 years and I really like it.
2. What is your preferred mode of transportation for short trips?
 I like using my own motorbike. I think motorbikes are widely available for
short trips. Motorbikes are the most common and convenient mode of transport
here. They allow me to navigate through traffic easily and are well-suited to the
narrow roads in many areas.

experience?
 I haven't ever used the public transportation likes buses or trams because I have

the most common and convenient mode of transport here. They allow me to
navigate through traffic easily and are well-suited to the narrow roads in many
areas.
4. Can you ride a bicycle? Do you use it for transportation?

and mostly use my motorbike. I used to be very fond of riding a bicycle in my
teenage, but after I went to high school, I had been forced to use motorbike.
5. What do you think are the benefits of walking as a means of transportation?

4
 Walking does lots of things for your health. First, and perhaps most obvious, is

can walk somewhere, it gives me a good opportunity to think about things and
not feel stuck inside.
6. Have you ever used applications such as Grab and Be for ride-hailing and
food delivery?
 Yes, I have. You can buy from someone in you city, somewhere else in your
country and even from someone halfway around the world. And thanks to these
applications, moving around the city is also more convenient for tourists and
those who do not have their own car.
7. Do you think it's important for people to have a driver's license? Why or why
not?
 I think it does not matter whether anyone gets a driver’s license, as the majority
of people in my country take public transportation more. Moreover, with ride-
hailing applications such as Grab and Be, having a driver's license is not
necessary.
8. Have you ever traveled in a crowded subway or metro? What was it like?
 I haven't ever used the public transportation subway or metro. My favorite
means of transport is the motorbike. Motorbikes are the most common and
convenient mode of transport here. They allow me to navigate through traffic
easily and are well-suited to the narrow roads in many areas.
9. How do you feel about the traffic in your city or town?
 I live in one of the largest and busiest metropolitan cities in my country,
therefore, it is only expected that we will have traffic congestion primarily
because there isn’t just enough roads and streets to hold so many vehicles
currently. The number of private cars is increasing rapidly while some people
do not abide by the traffic rules to make the situation worse.
10. What improvements would you suggest for the transportation system in your
area?
 Well, I think the first step to improvement would be to widen the roads and
build to overpasses and underpasses to help traffic flow more freely which
would reduce the congestion in the city center. Also, it would help if the bus
service was improved to make it run more frequently which would help the
overcrowding in the rush hour.
3C
1. How do you usually go to school?

increasing rapidly while some people do not abide by the traffic rules to make
the situation worse.
7. Do you have pedicabs in your country? Are they popular? Why/ Why not?
 Yes, my country have many pedicabs but they aren’t popular because today
there are many means of transportation that are faster and more convenient than
pedicabs. Today, their usage has shifted more towards leisurely purposes rather
than practical transportation.
8. Do you prefer public transport or private transport?
 I prefer to use private transport rather than public transport. Although I know
that using public transport contributes to environmental protection and saves
travel costs, I cannot be proactive in the time and route. I prefer private
transport, mainly due to the convenience and flexibility it offers.
9. Is a bicycle a good mean of transport in your country?
 I think bicycles a good transport in Vietnam. It is convenient and good for
health.. In city or countryside, when you ride bicycle, you don't need to worry

means of transport with don't pollute the environment.

 I consider myself to be in the middle, but if I were to choose from my past

than its requirement. That is a silly mistake.
7. What is the best decision you have ever made?
 One wise choice I recently made was to get up early to prepare for a significant

good way to make friendships stronger, and become more powerfully.

Why?
 Oh yeah, they do. I guess it happens because different generations have
different travel preferences and intentions. For example, older people are more
likely to choose destinations for pleasure. Meanwhile, younger people tend to
enjoy adventure and having fun, so they might choose exotic locations to check
out.
8. Where would you recommend a foreigner to visit in your country?

tourists who love food.

9. When you travel to new places, what would you like to do?
