RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION OBJECTIVES:
The things the organisation hopes to accomplish as a result
of the recruitment and selection process.They should be
specifically stated for a given period.
Objectives are:
1. Refine the quality of your candidates
2. Find candidates who fit your company's culture
3. Streamline the recruitment and hiring processes
4. Encourage leadership development
RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION STRATEGY:
Employer brand-Develop a clear employer brand that tells a story about your
company and why people should work there.
Job descriptions-Create job descriptions that outline the role's duties and
responsibilities, and collaborate with the manager of the prospective
employee.
Interviewing-Conduct effective interviews to determine if a candidate is a
good cultural fit and has the right skills and attitude for the company.
Job analysis-Conduct a job analysis to ensure the right candidate is selected.
Job analysis can also help with performance management and choosing
compensation and benefits.
Candidate experience- Make sure the candidate experience reflects your
company's employer brand and gives candidates a taste of what it's like to
work there
RECRUITMENT SYSTEM
Recruitment means attracting more candidates to apply for the
job.
There are two sources of recruitment
a. Internal - Under internal source of recruitment the job positions are
filled in by existing employees of the organisation
b. External - When the candidates from outside the organisation are
invited to fill the vacant job position then its known as external
recruitment.
INTERNAL SOURCES:
Promotion : It means when an employee is moved to a higher
position or role within an organisation.
Demotion: A change in an employee’s position that results in a
lower pay grade,responsibilities, or privileges.
Reference : A person who can provide information about a
candidates’s work history, skills, and abilities to a prospective
employer.
Transfer- Transfer means shifting of employees position from
one job position to other at the same level of authority.
EXTERNAL SOURCES:
Advertisement : The process of promoting job opportunities to attract
qualified candidates.
Employment Exchange : A government office that helps job seekers find
employment and connects them with employers.
Labour union : An organisation that represents the collective interests of
employees
Campus Recruitment : When businesses visit educational institutions like
colleges and universities to recruit students for internships or full-time
positions.
Selection System
Job Analysis – It means to select the right candidate for
the right job.
Application bank – details of age, sex, Height and Weight,
educational qualifications, experience etc....
Selection Test– The test is conduct to know the
knowledge of the candidates like Intelligence tests,
Aptitude test,Personality Test, Interest Test and Trade
test.
Preliminary interview – Interview conducted to know the
specialised knowledge of the candidate.
Group discussion – A method to bring Candidates
together and discuss about a relevant topic.

CONCLUSION
To fill a vacancy created in an organization it should be filled by a right
person at right time at right cost.If recruitment and selection goes
right the goal is achieved.Also it includes cost so it should be done at
predetermined cost.
Ganesh was concerned about the sedentary lifestyle people are leading
nowadays.Their dependancy on outside food is also increasing because
corporate work culture demands working till late night at offices. So he
decide to start a restaurant , ‘ Healthy Eating Point’ to provide healthy
eating options to customers . After completing planning and organising
functions , he identified the various job positions that are required to be
filled i.e a General Manager , an accountant , Two Chefs ,Two boys for
serving the food in the restaurant and three boys for home deliveries. He
decided that his father Karan would be the General Manager.His father
requested him to appoint his friends son Prem as Accountant who is well
qualified for the post. Ganesh agreed to the proposal. Earlier Prem had a
business providing unskilled workerers to different organisation in
different areas. Prem took permission from Ganesh to continue with old
business. Ganesh happily agreed and asked him to provide 5 boys for
delivering and as servers. For the two chefs, Ganesh approached a
renowned Hotel Management Institute and was satisified with the chefs
provided.
a. Quoting the lines from above paragraph,explain the two sources of
recruitment being used by Ganesh for filling up various job positions.
b. Also give meaning of the function of management discussed in the
above case.
a. Sources of Recruitment being used are as follows :
Recommendation of Employees : “His father requested him to appoint his friends son as
accountant who is well qualified for the post.”In this source applicants are introduced by
present employees for the job positions
Labour Contractors : “Earlier Prem had a business of providing unskilled workeres to
different organisations from remote areas of the country”.It is a source of recruitment in
which labour contractors maintain contact with the labourers and can provide the
required number of unskilled workers.
b. The function of management discussed above is Staffing. Staffing which finding the right
person for the right job
