Event Overview
Name: IPL Auction Challenge
Location: Campus (Offline)
Participants: Teams of 3 members
Total Teams: 8 (shortlisted after Round 1)
Rounds: 2 (Quiz + Auction)
Winning Criteria: Teams ranked based on the total credit points of their final squad (11
players), adhering to constraints.
Pre-Event Preparation
1. Player Database:
o Compile a list of 88 players with:
Credit Points: Reflecting player value/performance.
Base Price: Reflecting bidding starting point.
o Categorize players into:
4 Batsmen
4 Bowlers
2 All-rounders
1 Wicketkeeper
o Include a mix of Indian and Overseas players (e.g., 50 Indian, 38 Overseas).
2. Participant PDF:
o Create a PDF containing only the player names, categories, and credit points.
o Share the PDF 2 days before the event to allow teams to strategize.
3. Rules Document:
o Prepare a handout (physical or digital) detailing:
Team composition constraints (11 players: 4 batsmen, 4 bowlers, 2 all-
rounders, 1 wicketkeeper).
Minimum 4 Indian and 4 Overseas players.
Virtual budget: ₹10 crores for bidding.
Ranking criteria: Total credit points of the final team.
Tie-breaker rules: Remaining budget, balanced team (most diverse
categories).
4. Technology Setup:
o Spreadsheet: Pre-fill Excel/Google Sheets with player details (name, category, credit
points, base price) for live updates.
o Projector/Screen: For displaying player slides during the auction.
o Timers: For auction rounds (30 seconds per player).
5. Event Materials:
o Team Sheets: Templates for teams to note down their purchases.
o Score Sheets: For coordinators to validate team compositions and calculate credit
scores.
Event Day Plan
Round 1: Quiz
Time: 30-40 minutes
Format:
o Conduct a quiz on cricket and sports trivia (20-25 questions).
o Questions can include player stats, team history, IPL records, and current cricket
news.
Selection:
o Top 8 teams advance to the Auction round.
Round 2: Auction
Time: 2-3 hours
Setup:
o Teams are seated with their templates and ₹10 crore virtual budget.
o Auctioneer/projector displays players one by one with their name, category, and
base price.
o Teams bid for players using their budgets.
o After every 10 players, a 2-minute pause is given for teams to strategize.
Rules:
o Teams must:
Spend wisely to buy exactly 11 players.
Ensure team composition meets constraints (categories and Indian/Overseas
player ratio).
o If a team overspends or violates constraints, they are disqualified.
Live Updates:
o Display player availability and winning bids on the projector after each round.
o Update a public leaderboard showing:
Budget spent/remaining.
Credit points accumulated.
Post-Auction Evaluation
1. Team Validation:
o Coordinators check that all teams:
Have 11 players.
Adhere to category and nationality constraints.
2. Ranking:
o Calculate the total credit points for each team.
o Rank teams based on credit points (highest to lowest).
o Apply tie-breaker rules if necessary.
3. Results Announcement:
o Announce winners (Top 2 teams).
o Distribute prizes and certificates.
Audience Engagement
Conduct mini-games during auction breaks:
o Cricket quizzes.
o Guess-the-player/image-based trivia.
Reward correct answers with small prizes (e.g., chocolates, stationery).
Logistics Checklist
Pre-Event:
o Player list (PDF format) shared with participants.
o Materials: Rules handouts, team sheets, printed certificates.
o Setup: Projector, laptop with spreadsheet, timer, markers, whiteboard (optional).
During Event:
o Auctioneer to announce player details and manage bidding.
o Coordinators for team validation, budget tracking, and score calculation.
Post-Event:
o Ensure prompt evaluation and result announcement.
o Distribute prizes and capture event photos for future marketing.
