sewing pattern
notes
• Please read through all instructions before beginning.
• Wash, dry, and press fabric before cutting.
• Always backstitch at beginning and end of seams.
• 3/8" seam allowances are included in the pattern.
• All hem allowances are 1", and finished hems are ½".
• Photos are shown for sewing bloomers, but the instructions are the same for
sewing the pants.

fabric cut ting instructions

Fold fabric in half lengthwise with selvages lined up and RIGHT sides together, wrong sides facing out.
Pin pattern piece to fabric with grainline parallel to selvages and cut.

elastic cutting instructions

Waist Elastic: Cut a 3/8" wide piece of knit elastic 3" smaller than child’s waist measurement.
Another option is to measure the elastic waistband of a pair of pants that fits the child well and cut the
elastic the same length as that measurement. This type and width of elastic will stretch out a little as
you’re working with it, so no need to add seam allowance. If unable to obtain measurements, cut the
elastic according to the measurements below.

Bloomer Leg Opening Elastic: Cut two 3/8" wide pieces of knit elastic 1" bigger than child’s thigh
measurement for fit as pictured. Cut elastic smaller for shorter, puffier bloomers or bigger for a
looser look, more like bubble shorts. If unable to obtain measurements, cut the elastic according to
the measurements below.

Pant Ankle Elastic: Cut two 3/8" wide pieces of knit elastic according to the measurements below.
