Commander Nick Wissel, U.S. Navy

Commanding Officer
USS HIGGINS (DDG 76)
UNIT 100188 BOX 1
FPO AP 96667

Dear Commander Wissel,

I have been slated to USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) as the Executive Officer. I am still working my
training track with Placement but I expect to arrive to HIGGINS in August 2021. My intent is to detach
from my current command in September or October and relocate my family from Naples, Italy to
Yokosuka, Japan prior to beginning the pipeline. Due to the current COVID crisis in the United States,
we will not be executing our Consecutive Overseas Tour (COT) entitlement and I am working with PERS
to defer this for later use. As planning progress on my timeline, I will keep CDR McGettigan informed.

I currently serve on the staff of Commander, Naval Forces EUROPE/AFRICA and SIXTH Fleet as
the Maritime Strike and Fires Lead. Previously, I served at Destroyer Squadron SEVEN (CDS 7) as
N4/N6 Materiel & Combat Systems Officer, stationed in Singapore and before that I was on USS
GLADIATOR (MCM 11) as Chief Engineer, stationed in Bahrain. As a Division Officer, I served aboard
USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91) as the Damage Control Assistant (DCA) for my first tour and as the
Navigator for my second tour. On shore, I was stationed at Surface Warfare Officer’s School (SWOS)
where I helped author and served as the Lead Instructor of the Surface Navigator’s Course. I am looking
forward to getting back to a destroyer and the Western Pacific!

I was enlisted for 13 years before commissioning through the Seaman to Admiral-21 program,
graduating from the University of Idaho with degrees in Computer Engineering and Electrical
Engineering. I also attended the Naval Postgraduate School where I earned a Master’s Degree in Applied
Physics and completed JPME Phase I.

I will be accompanied in Yokosuka by my wife, Veronica Marie Dennis and our daughter, Brooke
Elizabeth (11 yo). We also have two boys, Corey and Matthew, both who enlisted in the Navy,
completed their obligations, and have moved into the private sector pursuing other careers. We enjoy
cooking, traveling and exploring, watching movies, and many other family activities.

I look forward to joining the Wardroom and serving the crew of HIGGINS!

Cameron D. Dennis
