INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT
CLASS- IX / SOCIAL SCIENCE /2023-2024
As per CBSE guidelines, students of Class IX have to make an interdisciplinary project on
FORESTS , IN THE PAST AND IN THE PRESENT in a group. The interdisciplinary project
is based on chapters Forest society and colonialism and Natural vegetation and wildlife. Each
group will have 7 students. Each student will choose a sub topic and write a report about the
subtopic in an A4 size sheet. A team leader will be selected who will compile the write ups ,
and submit the file.
The project Subtopics are :
1.Type of forest , its location , tribes which are living there.
2.Effect of colonialism in the forest.
3.Plight of forest dwellers under colonialism.
4.Role of forests in sustaining life on planet earth
5.Reason of commercial forestry in present times
6.Role of government and local communities to protect forests.
7. The social and cultural world of forest communities through the study of specific revolts.
GUIDELINES FOR THE PROJECT
1.Use A4 size sheets. It should be a hand written project.
2. You can use newspaper clippings, maps, diagrams, play, street play and material from the
web to support the information.
3. Each sub topic should be supported with a write up and pictures/diagrams/graphs etc.
4. The cover page should be written in bold letters with the topic name. class & section, roll
number and session
5. Pages should not exceed more than 8 pages to write the content of the project.
6. The work should be submitted to your team leader by 17.11.2023.Compiled file to be
submitted to the subject teacher by 20.11.2023

a. Acknowledgement
b. Index
c. All subtopics
d. Bibliography (a list of the books referred to in a scholarly work, typically printed as an
appendix) *Maps, pictures, graphs, etc.
