UNIT 2. PG 19.
Informal letter
Hi Hanna,
How are you? Sorry I haven’t written for a long time because I was very busy.
I can see that you would like doing backpacking for a year, so I give you some advantages
like you would know many different places and you could know new peoples and cultures.
It is a fantastic opportunity.
However, I can see some disadvantages like, places will be seen by you but you will lose a
year of University. In the future, you could regret and lose a year of University while your
friends are doing it, so When everybody is going to University you’ll be traveling around
the world alone.
In my opinion, I think you could do that in summer when you had finished the course and
do it with your friends.
Oh, another thing is that the money is given to you by your parents, if you don’t have to
doing the travel.
My advice is that you go backpacking if you want, but you could speak with your parents.
Bye.
Hi Hanna,
How are you?
Sorry I haven’t written for long but I’ve been tied up. I’ve been told that you’d like to go
backpacking next year, although it hasn’t been great news for your parents because they’d
already arranged everything for you to attend college.
I guess you must have tried explaining them your reasons since your future could be
affected by this decision. For example, If you told them that what you want to do is work for
the Red Cross, which you have been previously collaborating with, they may reconsider
their opinion.
However, it should be taken into account that you’d have to get used to fending for yourself
in countries where Spanish isn’t spoken, and the culture and the food will be challenging
as well.
If I were you, I’d travel during the summer holidays, then, if you enjoyed the experience,
you could do it every summer, which would probably make you feel more rewarded, since
as you grow up and go on studying, you’ll be able to offer more knowledge to the
community.
Love,
Vanessa.

Report
Online language courses
This report will be about the advantages and disadvantages of different methods to learn
English.
The advantages
The purpose of this report is to know about advantages and disadvantages about learning
with online languages.
Some advantages are such as students would learn more if they had online language
courses to improve their English, because they could look for everything which they don’t
know.
On the other hand, they could play online games and increase their learning If the had
online courses, also, if they could not go to class, they would be connected online.
The disadvantages
It is said that more traditional methods are being used by more teachers because they say
that technologies distract many students.
Students spend a lot of time playing games so they have to disconnect of Internet and use
traditional methods.
Recommendations
I therefore suggest that we should have some subjects with traditional methods and others
online.
To sum up, I believe that students will improve their English and other subjects, if the
classes are given by these two methods.

Online language courses
The purpose of this report is to analyse the benefits and drawbacks of learning English
online. My findings are outlined below.
Benefits
First of all, given that students would be able to have access at any time, it could help
them in order to organize their schedule without interfering with their study plan. Needless
to say that those who haven’t studied English for a long time or have been feling insecure
when it comes to speaking in public will probably gain confidence after revising properly.
Drawbacks
However, it is generally assumed that traditional lessons should be reintroduced at college
because it has been said that students have been finding less difficulties to stay focused
on the lesson as they will be provided with guidance by the interaction with the teacher
and classmates.
Recommendations
I therefore suggest that we should have both methods available if you wanted to reach to
more students, which will facilitate their improvement and sharpen their previous
knowledge up.
