Test Plan Template


1. Introduc on
 Project Name: Briefly describe the project being tested.
 Test Plan Version: Track different versions of the plan.
 Date: Include the date the plan was created or updated.
 Author(s): List the testers responsible for the plan.
2. Scope
 In Scope: What features and func onali es will be tested?
 Out of Scope: What will not be tested (e.g., third-party integra ons)?
3. Objec ves
 Overall Test Objec ve: Define the main goal of tes ng (e.g., ensure so ware quality).
 Specific Test Objec ves: List specific goals for each tes ng type (e.g., func onal tes ng, performance tes ng).
4. Test Strategy
 Tes ng Methodology: Choose the tes ng approach (e.g., black-box, white-box).
 Test Levels: Iden fy the different tes ng levels (e.g., unit, integra on, system).
 Test Design Techniques: Specify the techniques used to design test cases (e.g., equivalence par oning, boundary
value analysis).

Defect Report
1. Defect ID:
 Generate a unique iden fier for each issue to track it easily. (Think of it as a bug's fingerprint!)
2. Summary:
 Briefly describe the problem in clear and concise language. What went wrong? (Like a catchy headline for your
bug story!)
3. Steps to Reproduce:
 List the exact steps necessary to recreate the bug. Be specific and detailed, like a recipe for producing the error.
4. Expected Result:
 Describe what should have happened under normal circumstances. (Think of the ideal outcome, not the buggy
reality!)
5. Actual Result:
 Explain what actually happens when you follow the steps to reproduce. Be specific and objec ve, like a scien fic
observa on.
6. Screenshot/Video (Op onal):
 Capture visual evidence of the bug if possible. A picture (or video) is worth a thousand bug reports!
7. Environment:
 Specify the so ware version, opera ng system, and browser (if applicable) where the bug occurs. (Context is key
for understanding the bug's habitat!)
8. Severity:
 Classify the bug based on its impact, such as cri cal (crashes the so ware), major (disrupts core
func onality), minor (cosme c issues). (Think of the bug's bite - is it a mosquito or a T-Rex?)
9. Priority:
 Indicate how urgently the bug needs to be fixed. High priority for cri cal issues that halt progress, lower for minor
annoyances. (Think of the bug's queue in the developer's to-do list!)
10. Assignee:
 Assign the bug to the developer responsible for fixing it. (Let the bug whisperer take care of it!)
11. Addi onal Informa on:
 Include any relevant details that might help diagnose the bug, such as log files, error messages, or specific user
ac ons. (The more clues, the faster the bug gets solved!)
