ACAPULCO
Under the creative direction of Austin Winsberg, Eduardo
Cisneros, and Jason Shuman, “Acapulco” is a 2023 Mexican-
American comedy series which follows the story of Maximo
Gallardo Ramos.
The show is told from the point of view of wealthy businessman
Maximo Gallardo Ramos, who shares his tale of overcoming
adversity to become employed at the most opulent and
prestigious resort in the world, Las Colinas. In this endearing
and amusing story set in the 1980s, we get to observe his
professional and emotional experiences as a young pool boy at
the resort. With Enrique Arrizon, Jessica Collins and several
other famous actors the show proves to be a great classic
comedy piece which delves into the struggling life of Maximo.
With a good amount of American mixed Mexican humor the
show proves to be a perfect binge-worthy show.
JALISCO, MEXICO
The primary location for the movie was decided to be the
Jalisco city of Mexico. A lot of work has gone into making sure
that the resort is a part of the story because the program
integrates the culture and atmosphere of Mexico in the 1980s as
the production team also wanted the story to be true to the
plot. Filming for the inaugural season commenced on April 7,
2021, and wrapped up in June of the same year. The following
season was shot in the Spring of 2022. For the third season, the
cast and crew set their camp again in Mexico in March 2023,
and shooting continued for a few months. The place is known
for its shining and astonishing beauty with several lavish resorts
and amenities suitable for every filming or production house.
The majority of the story in the show takes place at the Los
Colinas vacation, which is located in the well-known Pacific
coast vacation city of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero, Mexico.
It is not, however, the actual shooting location. Actually, Los
Colinas Resort is actually part of the 4-star Barceló Puerto
Vallarta, which is located exactly at Manzanillo – Puerto
Vallarta Km. 11,5, Zona Hotelera Sur, 48300, close to Mismaloya
Beach in the state of Jalisco. The location is also near to the
main town circle with astonishing neighbourhod.
Hotel Barceló where the main and pivotal scenes were filmed
was painted pink top to bottom on the ocean side and inside
and retro-fitted with 80s interior and exterior décor to give it
the vibrant, hot 80s look. The art and designing team did a
great work in enhancing the major backdriops of the movie.
Puerto Vallarta was also utlized for the local area.
Specifically, a number of streets, including Matamoros, Agustín
Rodríguez, Mina, Corona, and Galeana, may be seen in the
background of a few scenes in the show. Filming also takes
place in the Marina Vallarta planned development area and
other nearby areas, all within a short drive from the city's
downtown.A few scenes are taped on the boardwalk located at
Mástil 14 in Marina Vallarta. The Westin Resort & Spa in Puerto
Vallarta, located at Avenida Paseo de la Marina Sur 205, is
where the crew really shot the installment. Similar to Barceló
Puerto Vallarta, a beach resort, this opulent property is likewise
painted pink to serve as a stand-in for the Los Colinas Resort
while the show is being filmed. That may explain why Acapulco's
actual location is in Guerrero, not Jalisco, a different state
where production was centered. Regarding Mismaloya, it's a
stunning vacation spot that's a scuba divers and snorkeler's
paradise because of the Los Arcos sea rocks, the Vallarta
Botanical Gardens, and, of course, the Barceló Puerto Vallarta.
