When registering a business and obtaining the licenses and


permit in Tanzania,it is essential to consider the following steps
and requirements
1:Choose a business structure
Decide on the type of business entity
 sole proprietorship ;owned by one individual
 partnership ;owned by two or more individuals
 limited liability company (LLC);separate legal entity
 public limited company (PLC); suitable for large business
 brach or subsidiary ;for foreighn business operationing in
Tanzania
2: Register the business name
Agency; Register with bussines registration and licensing agency
(BRELA)
Steps
 check for name availability on the BRELA Online
Registration System (ORS)
 Reserve your business name

 Submit required document (filled form and identification )

Fees; varies based on your business type


3:Obtain Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
 Register for TIN with the Tanzania Revenue Authority
(TRA) for business tax compliance
 Necessary for paying taxes like corporate tax, VAT (if
applicable )and PAYE (for employees ) 4:Apply for
a business license
 Authority; Apply to the relevant municipal authority or
regulatory body depending on your business activity
 Documents
-Business registration certificate
-lease agreement or proof of premises ownership
