Introduction 1-1

1 Introduction

Planned maintenance consists of visual inspection, cleaning, and functional performance

checks. It should be performed at least every 12 months.
A separate Maintenance Certificate1 is provided with this procedure. Make a good (prefer-
ably 2-sided) copy of this certificate and fill it out while performing the procedure. When
you have completed the maintenance, give the customer the completed certificate, and
return a copy of it to your Regional Service Office or Home Office, as appropriate to your
region.
Some areas have regulations that require planned maintenance more frequently. Make
sure that you are aware of, and adhere to, all local regulations regarding Planned Mainte-
nance intervals for this equipment.

1.1 Hints on Performing the Maintenance

If one of the checks fails ...
• and the customer has signed a “full” service contract for the equipment:
- do not check not OK, but repair the defect, and repeat the check. If it passes, check
OK.
• and the customer has not signed a full service contract:
- If the customer gives you the order to repair the defect:
Perform the repair, and repeat the check. If it passes, check OK.
- If the customer does not want the defect to be repaired:
Check not OK, and make a note in the "Open Issues" section of the certificate.
