I.Short Answers:
1. Why is water considered as a Precious gift? How does it impact our daily lives and the
environment?
Ans: * We cannot live more than 3 days without drinking water.
 We cannot lead daily life like drinking, washing vessels, cleaning, bathing etc.
 All plants and animals need water,.
2. How does rain water reach underground and form water sources?
Ans: * Rainwater gets soaked into the soil.
 It slowly flow under the soil to join a stream or a pond.
 Some of the water gets stored under the ground between rocks and soil.
3. What are the common ways that water is wasted in home and school? Suggest few
solutions to reduce water in your daily life.
Ans: * Washing dishes with running water.
 Long showers
 Leakage of water from pipes and tapes.
 Not proper rain water harvesting.
Solutions:
 Check for leaks in the pipes
 Take short showers.
 Turn off the tap while not is use
 Proper storing of rainwater.

II. Long Answers:


1. How would you design a birdbath to help birds during the hot summer months? What
materials would you use to make it?
Ans: * Take a shallow and wide bowl of depth less than 10 cm.
 Fill bowl with fresh water
 Add stones and pebbles for birds to perch.
 Place it in balcony , yard or terrace.
 Change the water frequently
 Clean the birdbath with a scrubber twice a week.
Materials:
Bowl ( shallow and wide) , Stones and pebbles , Fresh water.
