Hi, everyone. I’m Phong.

Good to see you all

The cause of cybercrime was born

as you all know

Cybercrime is a crime that is dangerous to society, taking place in almost all
different areas of social life (economic, social, political, ideological, national
security, socio-psychological) associations, organizations, etc.). Therefore, it is
governed and determined by social phenomena and processes. The following
reasons can be considered:
Now let’s turn to the first part of my talk which is about the cybercrime
- On social security: Derived (nguồn gốc) from hostile (thù địch) and reactionary
(phản động) forces with the purpose of using telecommunications networks to
destroy and distort guidelines, lines and policies of the Party and State. They
wanted to draw the Vietnamese people to their side, turning the people into tools to
oppose the Party and State.
This graph will gives you a breakdown of the ways that cybercriminals create
disinformation
next i will talk about the
- social order and safety: Derived (nguồn gốc) from the purpose of wanting to steal
information and systems of agencies, enterprises, and economic groups of the
State. High-tech criminals commit acts of attack, sabotage, infection with viruses,
spyware, malicious computer code..., with extremely serious levels and nature,
disrupting operations of the system and information leakage (sự rò rỉ).
Now I want to describe
-Social: For self-interest purposes such as appropriating property, fraud, total
money, threats, ... These situations are now very common and are carried out with
sophisticated (phức tạp) tricks and forms. Constant changes make it difficult to
recognize and handle in time. The act of using the phone to make calls to defraud
money, or send links to hack user accounts to obtain information for the purpose of
threatening, total money, ...
Let’s turn to the next issue…
I will talk about some types of cybercrime that are common in the world
So, first is the
1. Lack of security assistance (Thiếu hỗ trợ bảo mật)
Nowadays we find that too few people are aware of the simplest steps to increase
cyber security. What’s more, most don’t have easy access to the resources they
need, when they need them. Take passwords. It’s known the stronger your
password is, the more secure your account will be.
In 2019, 23 million online accounts were still using the password “123456”. 71%
of accounts are protected by passwords used on multiple websites. Our password
habits need to change.

The best time to let people know about the strength of their passwords is when
they’re setting up accounts. Simple bits of information like ‘how long the password
would take to break’, or ‘whether it’s ever appeared in a known data breach’ can
both greatly improve the strength of passwords at the account setup stage and in
turn help prevent an unauthorized access to personal data and accounts such as
banking, emails, or social media.
Next is the
2. System vulnerabilities (Lỗ hổng hệ thống)
These are some kind of system vulnerabilities that I have found in the docs, on the
net

If you look at this, you will see some common types of security vulnerabilities

When cybercriminals spot a weakness, they pounce on it which in best case can
e.g., temporarily block a website (DDoS attack) or worst, lead to a full security
breach, computer crimes or cyber terrorism. That’s why system vulnerabilities can
be so dangerous.
In January 2020, American software developer SolarWinds was subject to a cyber
attack. Cyber criminals exploited a vulnerability in the company’s software after
employees shared details of the system flaw online. The attackers gained access to
the company’s systems and succeeded in stealing the administrative credentials of
an account holder and it is thought the same group was behind ransomware attacks
that crippled 22 cities in Texas.
Minimising the threat of such attacks requires a combined reactive and
preventative approach. As well as having the right security software, computer
systems and network settings in place, it’s important to keep software up to date.
This means installing software updates and patches as soon as they become
available as they may fix vulnerabilities.
3. Assessing risk (Đánh giá rủi ro)
Criminals want us to underestimate (đánh giá thấp) the risk of cyber attacks and
the consequences of cyber crime. The more we underestimate, the easier things are
for them. Unfortunately, everyone’s ability to calculate risk is poor!
Example of car accidents and plane crashes. Statistically, flying is far safer than
driving. Yet, as many as 1 in 6 people have a fear of flying, while few people
worry about driving their cars every day.
Quirks (điều kì quặc) such as the above make it difficult for humans to calculate
risk. Something known as the normalcy bias tricks us into thinking the future will
be like the present.
In other words, we’re unable to calculate the risk of a cyberattack so we conclude
such a risk probably doesn’t exist.
But the risk of cyberattack is very much real.
In fact, it’s a risk that’s growing every day. To reverse this trend, we need to begin
protecting ourselves online. Ordinary people need to know the risks of cyber
attacks (phishing (lừa đảo), ransomware (mã độc tóng tiền), malware (phần mềm
độc hại)), as well as the basic preventative measures they can take to keep safe
from cyber crime.
This chart shows you how cybercriminals use to attack users
Conclusion
In conclusion, many individuals are concerned with the recent growth of
cybercrimes. Though the ongoing trend enhancing unlawful acts, I believe, it could
be mitigated if the users are a bit aware while creating their webpages. It’s time we
take responsibility and do more about it.
