SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 2
Instructions: Discuss some ideas by answering the following questions.
Explain and/or give examples.
1. There are five main language skills: reading; writing; speaking; listening and
viewing. In general, which one do you think is the most important to you?
For me, writing is the most important for me as part of language that can be able to
communicate, because sometimes through writing we can express our ideas, to show our
emotions and can share our thoughts. However, speaking is also important but not all the people
can speak in front of many because they don’t have enough self-confidence or they might feel
that they cannot speak because of the fear or they feel nervous at the same time, it will lead to
misunderstanding because they don’t express themselves properly. But in writing you are free to
communicate without feeling conscious because you can tell everything you want to say that will
lead to good communication.
2. Among the five skills, what will happen if one skill will be removed?
I think if one of the five main language skills will be removed, it would have significantly a
person’s ability to communicate and comprehend language. For example, removing reading
would impair the ability to comprehend written texts, understand information presented in
written form, and engage with written literature or instructions. It would hinder one's access to
knowledge and information that is primarily conveyed through written language.
3. Why is it important for teaching activities to be designed or planned?\
As a teacher it is necessary to organize your activity according to your own design and plan
because it shows the uniqueness in you as an educator. A well-planned lesson follows a logical
sequence that builds upon prior knowledge and scaffolds new information. It ensures that content
is presented in a coherent and organized manner, which aids students in understanding and
retention. Planning helps clarify the objectives and goals of the lesson or activity. It ensures that
teachers have a clear focus on what they want students to achieve by the end of the session or
unit.
4. What things does a teacher need to consider upon teaching the different
Macro skills?
If you already a teacher, there are certain things that you should consider when you are teaching
different macro skills. First, choose relevant and engaging materials that support the
development of each skill. This includes texts for reading, prompts for writing, audio/video
materials for listening and viewing, and interactive tools for speaking. Second, Select appropriate
teaching strategies and methods that cater to the specific skill being taught. For example,
interactive activities may be more suitable for speaking and listening skills, while structured
practice and modeling may be effective for writing and reading.
