Week 1: Wheels Go Round (Explore and Express)
Focus: How we travel, different modes of transportation, and understanding movement.
Day 1: How We Travel
Objective: Introduce different modes of transportation and how they help us travel.
Activity:
o Read a story or watch a video about different vehicles (buses, cars, bicycles, airplanes,
etc.).
o Discussion: “What vehicles have you traveled in?”
o Compare different modes of transport based on speed, utility, and use in different
locations.
Craft:
o Make a Vehicle Collage. Provide magazines and have students cut out images of various
vehicles. Help them glue the images to paper to create their "How We Travel" collage.
Materials: Magazines, glue, scissors, large paper.
Day 2: Are We There Yet?
Objective: Understand the concept of distance and time in travel.
Activity:
o Storytime: Read a book or tell a story about a long journey (like traveling to another city
or country).
o Discussion: “How do we know when we’re close to arriving at our destination?”
o Introduce time and distance in relation to different modes of travel (e.g., car travel vs.
airplane travel).
Craft:
o Create a Journey Timeline. Have students draw or use stickers to represent stages of a
journey (starting point, midway, and arriving).
Materials: Stickers, markers, paper.
Day 3: Get Out and Push!
Objective: Learn about the challenges of transportation and what happens when vehicles break
down.
Activity:
o Discuss what might happen when a car or bicycle breaks down.
o Introduce the idea of problem-solving in transportation, such as pushing a vehicle or
fixing a flat tire.
Craft:
o Build a Simple Vehicle Model. Use recycled materials (bottle caps, cardboard, etc.) to
create a simple vehicle that can "break down" and be "fixed" by the students.
Materials: Recycled materials like cardboard tubes, bottle caps, glue, markers.
Day 4: On the Buses
Objective: Learn about public transportation and how buses help people travel.
Activity:
o Talk about buses and how they are used in cities and towns. Show images of different
kinds of buses.
o Discussion: “Have you ever been on a bus? Where did you go?”
Craft:
o Create a Bus Route Map. Students draw their own bus route from home to school or
another location.
Materials: Paper, rulers, markers, crayons.
Day 5: Review and Reflection
Objective: Reinforce learning from the week about transportation.

o Make a Paper Sailboat. Help students fold paper to make simple sailboats and decorate
them.
Materials: Paper, crayons, markers, glue.
Day 3: Treasure Islands
Objective: Use imagination to explore the idea of treasure islands and pirates.
Activity:
o Read a short story or watch a video about pirates and treasure islands.
o Discuss: “What would you do if you found a treasure? What might a treasure island look
like?”
Craft:
o Create a Treasure Map. Students design a treasure map, complete with an "X" to mark
the spot.
Materials: Paper, markers, tea bags (for staining paper), crayons.
Day 4: Under the Sea
Objective: Explore life under the sea, learning about sea creatures and their environment.
Activity:
o Watch a video about ocean life, focusing on different sea creatures (fish, dolphins,
sharks, turtles).
o Discussion: “What creatures live in the sea? How do they survive?”
Craft:
o Build an Under the Sea Diorama. Students use a shoebox, construction paper, and craft
materials to create a 3D scene of life under the sea.
Materials: Shoebox, construction paper, scissors, glue, markers.
Day 5: Review and Reflection
Objective: Reinforce learning from the week about the sea and ocean life.
Review Questions:
1. What can you find at the beach?
2. What types of boats have you learned about, and what are they used for?
3. How do you think pirates find treasure on an island?
4. Can you name some creatures that live under the sea?
5. What was your favorite activity this week, and why?
Here’s the complete two-week lesson plan for Weeks 3 and 4 based on the "Learning Block 3:
Explore and Express – Flights of Fancy" and "Learning Block 4: Explore and Express – Around
the World" as seen in the image.
Week 3: Flights of Fancy (Explore and Express)
Focus: Exploring air travel, flight-related concepts, and imaginative journeys through the sky.
Day 1: High Flyers
Objective: Introduce the concept of flight and various objects that can fly.
Activity:
o Show videos or pictures of airplanes, helicopters, birds, and hot air balloons.
