Suffering For Christ Scripture

 1 Peter 3:13-18
o “13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that
which is good? 14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake,
happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be
troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be
ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a
reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 16
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you,
as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your
good conversation in Christ. 17 For it is better, if the will of God
be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. 18 For
Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust,
that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,
but quickened by the Spirit:”
 John 15:18 -19
o “18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it
hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his
own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you
out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
 Lamentations 1:8-11
o “8 Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed:
all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her
nakedness: 9 yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward. Her
filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end;
therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O
LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified
himself. 10 The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her
pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into
her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not
enter into thy congregation. 11 All her people sigh, they seek
bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve
the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become vile.”
 Lamentations 2:1-10
o 1 How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in
his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty
of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his
anger! 2 The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob,
and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong
holds of the daughter of Judah; he hath brought them down to
the ground: he hath polluted the kingdom and the princes
thereof. 3 He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel:
he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and
he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth
round about. 4 He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood
with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were
pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he
poured out his fury like fire. 5 The Lord was as an enemy: he hath
swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he
hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the
daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation. 6 And he hath
violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he
hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused
the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath
despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. 7
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary,
he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her
palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in
the day of a solemn feast. 8 The LORD hath purposed to destroy
the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he
hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made
the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together. 9
Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and
broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the
Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision
from the LORD. 10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon
the ground, and keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their
heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of
Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
 James 1:2-3
o 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh
patience.
 1 Corinthians 10:13
o There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to
man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a
way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
 2 Corinthians 12:9
o And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my
strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I
rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me.
 Acts 5:40-41
o 40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the
apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should
not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 And they
departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they
were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
 Luke 9:26
o For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him
shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own
glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.
 Matthew 24:8-9
o 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver
you up to be afflicted, and shall
 1 Corinthians 11:32
o But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we
should not be condemned with the world.
 1 Peter 1:7
o That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of
gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found
unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus
Christ:
 Proverbs 11:31
o Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much
more the wicked and the sinner.
