L-1 Vital parts of our body


Q-1 Define-
1-External body parts- The body parts which can be seen from outside are called External body
parts.
2-Internal body parts-The body parts which cannot be seen from outside are called Internal body
parts.
3-Inhalation-When we breathe in air into the lungs,it is called inhalation.The Lungs expand when
we inhale.
4-Exhalation-When we breathe out air,it is called Exhalation.The lungs contract when we exhale.
5-Atria(Auricles)-The two chambers present on the upper side of human heart are called
Atria(Auricles).
6-Ventricles-The two chambers present on the lower side of human heart are called ventricles.
7-Digestion-The breaking down of food into small and simpler form that the body can use is
called digestion.

Q-2 Write any three healthy habits which are necessary for good digestion.
Ans-The three healthy habits which are necessary for good digestion are-
1)We should chew our food properly .
2)We should eat on time.
3)We should eat plenty of salad.

Q-3 Write important function of Internal Organs.


1)Lungs -Lungs are air filled bags that help us to breathe.
2)Brain-It is the control centre of the body.It controls all functions of the body.
3)Liver-Liver helps in digestion of fats and removal of harmful chemicals from the blood.
4)Stomach-Stomach receives all the food we eat and digests it.
5)Kidneys-Kidneys are bran shaped organs that remove waste material from the blood in the
form of urine.
L-2 Safety and Health
Q-1What are communicable diseases? How can we prevent them?
Ans-Diseases which can spread to a healthy person from an infected person or animal are called
communicable diseases. All of the communicable diseases can be prevented by staying away
from the sick person ,eating healthy food and maintaining hygiene. Healthy food,good eating
habits,regular exercise and proper rest and sleep are the keys to good health.
Q-2 List any four safety rules to be followed under the given situation-
B)Outdoor safety-
1. Always inform elders when you are going outdoors.
2. Dress properly according to the weather.
3. Carry homemade food and clean water bottle.
4. Cross the road carefully.
B)Water Safety -
1. The edges of water bodies are generally slippery and we can fall into the water.So, avoid
going very near.
2. It is better to learn swimming before enjoying water sports.
3. Swimming must be learnt under adult’s supervision.
4. Wear complete swimming gear while learning it.
C)Fire Safety-
1. Do not wear synthetic clothes near fire or in kitchen.They catch fire easily.
2. Install fire alarms at home and in offices.
3. Keep matchsticks and lighters out of reach of children.
4. Do not use water to put out fire caused by electricity. Instead , use sand for it.
D)Food Safety-
1. Do not eat uncovered food as flies and dust may contaminate it.
2. Wash your hands before and after meals.
3. Wash vegetables and fruits before eating or cooking them.
4. Drink only clean and safe drinking water.Boiling is the easiest way to kill germs.

Q-3 Explain the following communicable diseases under the given heads.

1-Malaria
Cause-Malaria is caused by a parasite called Plasmodium that is carried by the female Anopheles
mosquito.
Symptoms- Malarial fever is characterised by chills,fever,headache and vomiting.
Preventive Measures- Spread of malaria can be checked by destroying breeding grounds of
mosquitoes in your surroundings. Breeding grounds are puddles and containers with stagnant
water.
2- Corona Virus-
Cause-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) ,is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus.
Symptoms-People who are infected ,experience fever, dry cough, fatigue,difficulty in breathing ,
nausea etc.
Preventive Measure-By staying away from the patient ,by wearing masks,eating healthy food and
maintaining hygiene.
