Safety Precaution Sheet

To be read carefully
before use
1. The operator(s) should be fully instructed in the use of the machine,
any connected equipment and accessories and the applied
consumables according to the relevant Instruction Manuals.

2. The machine must be placed on a safe and stable table with an

adequate working height. All functions on the machine and any
connected equipment must be in working order.

3. Operators should ensure that the actual voltage corresponds to the

voltage on the back of the machine. The machine must be earthed.
Follow the local regulations. Always turn the power off and remove the
plug or the cable before opening the machine.

4. Connect only to cold water. Make sure that the water connections are
leak-proof and that the water outlet is working.

5. The connection to the mains water supply should be turned off if the
machine is left unattended.

6. Establish efficient exhaust from the working area if consumables

containing alcohol, for example, are being used.

7. Make sure that the grinding or polishing discs are correctly mounted,
the driving pins engaged with the holes in the turntable.

8. Keep clear of the rotational disc and the specimen mover if these are
mounted during operation. Make sure that any screws for clamping of
specimens in specimen holders protrude as little as possible. While
grinding manually, be careful not to touch the grinding paper. Do not
drop the specimen while grinding.
9. If you observe malfunctions or hear unusual noises - stop the machine
and call technical service.

The equipment is designed for use with consumables supplied by Struers. If subjected to misuse,
improper installation, alteration, neglect, accident or improper repair, Struers will accept no
responsibility for damage(s) to the user or the equipment.

Dismantling of any part of the equipment, during service or repair, should always be performed by a
qualified technician (electromechanical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, etc.)

Getting Acquainted Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the location and
with RotoPol names of all the RotoPol components:

Unpacking RotoPol All RotoPol models are detached from the bottom of the packing
case by removing the four screws from below.

Placing RotoPol RotoPol should be placed on a steady table with an adequate

working height. The machine must be close to the power supply,
water mains and water outlet facilities. If water recirculation is
used, there must be room under the table for the Recirculation
Cooling Unit (TRECI).

Supplying Power IMPORTANT

Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage stated on the type
plate on the side of the machine.

RotoPol-21 and -22 RotoPol-21 and -22 are factory mounted with electric cable.
Mount a plug on the cable or connect to mains:

Black and brown: phase.

Yellow/green: earth.

RotoPol-25 Plug the power cable into the rear panel of RotoPol-25 and
connect the other end to a grounded electrical outlet.

DANGER!

THE MACHINE MUST BE EARTHED

Direction of Turntable Check that the turntable rotates in the direction indicated by the
RotoPol-21 and -22 label (anti-clockwise). If the direction of rotation is incorrect,
switch two of the phases.

Supplying Water Water for wet grinding and disc cooling may be supplied from the
water mains or a Recirculation Cooling Unit.

Connection to Water Mains Mount the straight end of the pressure hose onto the water
inlet tube (upper) in the hose box on the back of RotoPol-
21/22/25 (see drawing on the previous page):
- Insert the filter gasket in the coupling nut with the flat side
against the pressure hose.
- Tighten the coupling nut completely.
Mount the other end of the pressure hose on the water mains
tap for cold water:
- Mount the reduction ring with gasket on the water mains
tap, if necessary.
- Introduce the gasket and tighten the coupling nut
completely.

IMPORTANT
Only connect to cold water.

Connection to Water Outlet Locate the end of the drain hose where a short length of the
steel reinforcement has been stripped away. Mount the
stripped end of the hose onto the water outlet tube. Use hose
clamp for fastening.
Lead the other end of the drain hose to the water outlet.
Arrange the tube so that it slopes throughout its length.
Shorten the hose, if necessary. The drain hose should be
attached to the water outlet system if possible.

REMEMBER
Avoid sharp bends in the drain hose and make sure that the hose slopes
throughout its length.

Software Settings Switch on the power at the main switch. The following display
will appear briefly:

General Use of Keys WATER ON w, WATER OFF W and SPEED d can only be
selected freely at User Select.
MENU m, SELECT L and DISC A can only be activated
when the machine has been stopped.
SELECT L can only be activated when MENU m is selected.

Acoustic Signals When pressing a key, a short beep indicates that the command
has been accepted, whereas a long beep indicates that the key
cannot be activated at the moment.

Reading the Display WATER ON 300RPM - The first line on the screen shows the
GRINDING setting of parameters WATER and
SPEED.
- The second line, if any, shows a
selected preset mode (GRINDING or
POLISHING).

Routine Operations
Mounting a Disc Place the disc on the turntable and turn it until the three
driving pins engage with the holes in the turntable.

Starting the Disc Press START s. The disc starts rotating. Selected functions
are executed, and connected RotoSystem modules start
operating.

Stopping the Disc Press STOP o. The disc stops rotating. Selected functions and
connected RotoSystem modules stop.

1. Advanced Operations
Selection of Disc RotoPol is designed for wet grinding and polishing discs of up to
250 mm dia. However, the whole range of Struers discs can be
mounted.
For automatic preparation of specimen holders mounted in
specimen movers, only aluminium discs should be used. See the
instructions for RotoForce-3 or RotoForce-4.

Mounting of
Specimen Mover (Optional)
RotoForce-3 and -4 RotoPol-21/22/25 can be equipped with a RotoForce-3 or
RotoForce-4 specimen mover. To mount the specimen mover, see
the appropriate Instruction Manual.

RotoForce-1 RotoPol-21 and -25 can be equipped with one RotoForce-1

specimen mover. RotoPol-22, having two independently operating
discs, can be equipped with one or two RotoForce-1 specimen
movers. To mount the specimen mover, see the appropriate
Instruction Manual.

IMPORTANT
If RotoPol-21/22/25 has to be relocated,
the specimen mover must be removed.

Mounting of RotoPol-21/22/25, combined with a specimen mover, can be

Multidoser (optional) equipped with Multidoser for automatic dosing of suspensions and
lubricants. To connect Multidoser, see the appropriate Instruction
Manual.

RotoCom Memory RotoPol-21/22/25, combined with RotoForce-3 or RotoForce-4 and

Unit (optional) Multidoser, can be equipped with a RotoCom memory unit. To
connect RotoCom to RotoPol, see the appropriate Instruction
Manual.

COMMUNICATION - Select STANDARD if RotoPol-21/22/25 is
ROTOCOM used as a single unit or if combined with a
specimen mover and/or a Multidoser.
- Select ROTOCOM when RotoPol-21/22/25
is connected to a RotoCom unit.

Press STOP o when the desired setting

Recirculation Cooling Unit A Recirculation Cooling Unit (TRECI) can be connected by means
(Optional) of a Recirculation Cooling Unit Connector (ROPRE).
Connect the cable from the pump in TRECI to ROPRE,
according to the diagram of ROPRE.
Socket for Recirculation Connect the cable with plug from ROPRE to the socket marked
Recirculation on the back of the RotoPol unit.
Connect the cable from ROPRE to the mains.
Check that the pump rotates in the direction indicated on the
pump. If the direction is incorrect, switch two of the phases in
the connection to the pump in TRECI (3-phase versions only).
Replace the outlet tube on the pump in TRECI with the non-
return valve with elbow and hexagon nipple from ROPRE.
Struers recommends that you seal the threads.
Connect the pressure hose of RotoPol to the hexagon nipple.
Remember to mount the gasket.
Select the reduction piece from ROPRE which fits the drain
hose of RotoPol. Mount the piece on the outlet angle of the
TRECI.
Shorten the drain hose if necessary. Fix the drain hose on the
reduction piece: strip away a short length of the steel
reinforcement in the drain hose and mount a hose clamp on the
stripped end.
Mount the outlet angle on TRECI.

REMEMBER
Avoid sharp bends in the drain hose and make sure that the hose slopes
throughout its length.

Configuration of RotoPol-22 As RotoPol-22 contains two individually controlled discs, there are
some additional options.

Setting AUTO MODE when One disc can be used for automatic preparation and the second
RotoForce-3 or -4 is mounted disc can be used for manual preparation.

Press MENU m to activate the setup menu.

AUTO MODE Move to the AUTO MODE screen using the

ON MENU m key.

- Select ON for the disc to be used for
 automatic preparation.
AUTO MODE - Select OFF on the disc to be used for
OFF manual preparation.

Press STOP o when the desired setting appears.

If both discs are to be used with the RotoForce sample movers,

they should both be set to AUTO MODE ON.

Setting 2-DISC SYSTEM 1 or 2 RotoForce-1 sample movers can be mounted on RotoPol-22.

polishing process, select WATER ON w. Adjust the water tap if
necessary. Let the water flow until the oxide polishing suspension
has been cleaned away (about 10 seconds).

IMPORTANT
If a Recirculation Cooling Unit is connected, special precautions must be
taken:
- the water coming from the built-in water tap cannot be used to wash the
oxide polishing suspension away. Use clean water.
- The outflow must not be conducted to the Recirculation Cooling Unit.
Direct the outlet to the drain or collect the outflow in a bucket.

4. Maintenance
Daily Service Clean all accessible surfaces with a moist cloth.

Weekly Service Remove the grinding/polishing disc and remove all dirt from the
tray and the drain tube.

Replacing the Cooling Water Only relevant when a Recirculation Cooling Unit is connected:
Replace the cooling water in the Recirculation Cooling Unit at
least once a month.
Place a Disposable Plastic Container (TREPO) in the tank and
fold it over the edge.
Fill the tank with 30 l of water. NB! Too high a level of coolant
in the tank could damage the pump.
Add Struers Additive according to the instructions.
Put the lid on the tank.
Place the pump in the lid

IMPORTANT
Always maintain the correct concentration of Struers Additive in the cooling
water (percentage stated on the container of the Additive). Remember to
add Struers Additive each time you refill with water.

Checking the The cooling unit should be checked for cooling water every week
Recirculation Cooling Unit and refilled when the flushing pump cannot reach the cooling
water. Remember to add Struers Additive for Cooling Fluid: One
part of Additive for 33 parts of water.
The concentration of additive should always lie between 2.7 and
3.3%; the pH should be around 9. Replace the cooling water if pH
is ≤8.0. To check the concentration of additive, use a
refractometer (0-10 Brix, see diagram.). Concentration = 2 x Brix.
Add Struers Additive for Cooling Fluid if the concentration is
lower than 2.7%. Add water if the concentration is higher than
3.3%.

Sicherheitsvorkehrungen

Vor dem Einschalten des Geräts bitte sorgfältig

durchlesen
1. Das Bedienungspersonal sollte über die Bedienung der Maschine, der
eventuell angeschlossenen Geräte und Zubehörteile und die verwendeten
Verbrauchsmaterialien gemäß den jeweiligen Bedienungsanleitungen
umfassend unterrichtet sein.
2. Die Maschine muß auf einem sicheren und stabilen Tisch mit adäquater
Arbeitshöhe abgestellt werden. Alle Maschinenfunktionen und eventuell
angeschlossenen Geräte müssen sich in betriebsbereitem Zustand
befinden.
3. Verwissern Sie sich, daß die Netzspannung der Spannung entspricht, die
auf der Rückseite der Maschine angegeben ist. Die Maschine muß geerdet
sein. Befolgen Sie die örtlichen Vorschriften. Schalten Sie stets die
Stromversorgung aus und ziehen Sie den Stecker oder das Kabel ab, ehe
Sie das Gerät öffnen.
4. Schließen Sie die Maschine nur an die Kaltwasserversorgung an. Achten
Sie darauf, daß die Wasseranschlüsse dicht sind und daß die
Wasserarmatur funktioniert.
5. Die Wasserhauptversorgung sollte abgedreht werden, wenn Sie die
Maschine unbeaufsichtigt lassen.
6. Sorgen Sie dafür, daß der Arbeitsbereich ausreichend belüftet wird, wenn
Verbrauchsmaterialien verwendet werden, die beispielsweise Alkohol
enthalten.
7. Achten Sie darauf, daß die Schleif- oder Polierscheibe richtig montiert ist
und daß die Mitnahmezapfen in die Bohrungen des Drehtischs eingreifen.
8. Kommen Sie nicht mit der rotierenden Schleifscheibe und dem
Probenhalter während des Betriebs in Berührung, sofern dieser montiert
ist. Vergewissern Sie sich, daß eventuelle Schrauben, mit denen Proben in
den Probenhaltern eingespannt werden, so wenig wie möglich
hervorstehen. Wenn Sie manuell schleifen, achten Sie darauf, daß Sie das
Schleifpapier nicht berühren. Lassen Sie die Probe nicht fallen, während
Sie schleifen.
9. Wenn Sie Fehlfunktionen beobachten oder ungewöhnliche Geräusche
wahrnehmen, schalten Sie die Maschine ab und rufen Sie den technischen
Kundendienst.

Für die Benutzung der Geräte bzw. der Maschinen sind die Verbrauchsmaterialien von Struers vorgesehen.
Falls unzulässiger Gebrauch, falsche Installation, Veränderung, Vernachlässigung, unsachgemäße
Reparatur oder ein Unfall vorliegen, übernimmt Struers weder die Verantwortung für Schäden des Benutzers
noch für solche am Gerät.

Die für Kundendienst und Reparatur erforderliche Demontage irgendwelcher Teile des Gerätes bzw. der
Maschine sollte immer nur von qualifiziertem Fachpersonal (Elektromechanik, Elektronik, Pneumatik usw.)
vorgenommen werden.

Kennenlernen Nehmen Sie sich einen Augenblick Zeit, um sich mit der Lage und

Auspacken von RotoPol Alle RotoPol-Modelle können Sie vom Boden der
Verpackungskiste anheben, nachdem Sie die vier Schrauben auf
der Unterseite herausgeschraubt haben.

Aufstellen von RotoPol RotoPol sollte sollte auf einem stabilen Tisch mit passender
Arbeitshöhe aufgestellt werden Die Maschine muß sich in der
Nähe von Stromversorgung, Wasserversorgung und Wasserabfluß
befinden. Sofern eine Wasserumlaufanlage verwendet wird, muß

Stromversorgung WICHTIG
Vergewissern Sie sich, daß die Netzspannung dem Wert entspricht, der auf
dem Maschinenschild an der Maschinenseite aufgeführt ist.

RotoPol-21 und -22 RotoPol-21 und -22 werden werkseitig mit einem Elektrokabel
ausgerüstet. Montieren Sie einen Stecker an das Kabel oder
schließen Sie es an das Netz an:

Schwarz und braun: Phase.

Gelb/grün: Erde.

RotoPol-25 Stecken Sie das Netzkabel in die Rückseite von RotoPol-25 und
schließen Sie das andere Ende an eine geerdete Steckdose an.

GEFAHR!

DIE MASCHINE MUSS GEERDET SEIN

Drehrichtung des Drehtischs

RotoPol-21 und -22 Überprüfen Sie, ob sich der Drehtisch in die Richtung dreht, die
durch ein Schild auf dem Drehtisch gekennzeichnet ist (entgegen
dem Uhrzeigersinn). Wenn die Drehrichtung falsch ist, dann
vertauschen Sie zwei der Phasen.

Wasserversorgung Wasser zum Naßschleifen und zur Scheibenkühlung kann der

Wasserversorgung oder einer Umlaufkühleinheit entnommen
werden.

Anschluß an die Montieren Sie das gerade Ende des Druckschlauchs auf das
Wasserversorgung Wasserzulaufrohr (oben) im Schlauchanschlußfach auf der
Rückseite von RotoPol-21/22/25:
- Legen Sie die Filterdichtung so in die Spannmutter ein, daß
die flache Seite auf den Druckschlauch zeigt.
- Ziehen Sie die Spannmutter vollständig an.
Montieren Sie das andere Ende des Druckschlauchs an den
Kaltwasserversorgungshahn:
- Montieren Sie gegebenenfalls den Reduzierring mit der
Dichtung auf den Hahn der Wasserversorgung.
- Legen Sie die Dichtung ein und ziehen Sie die Spannmutter
vollständig an.

WICHTIG
Schließen Sie das Gerät nur an Kaltwasser an.

Anschluß an den Wasserabfluß Suchen Sie das Ende des Abflußschlauchs, an dem ein kuirzes
Stück der Stahlbewehrung abgezogen worden ist. Montieren
Sie das abgezogene Schlauchende auf das Wasseraustrittsrohr.
Verwenden Sie eine Schlauchschelle zur Befestigung.
Führen Sie das andere Schlauchende zum Wasserabfluß.
Verlegen Sie den Schlauch so, daß er über die gesamte Strecke
ein Gefälle aufweist. Kürzen Sie gegebenenfalls den Schlauch.
Der Abflußschlauch sollte am besten mit dem
Wasserabflußsystem verbunden werden.

DENKEN SIE DARAN:

Der Abflußschlauch darf nicht geknickt werden, und vergewissern Sie sich,
daß der Schlauch über die gesamte Strecke ein Gefälle aufweist.

Software-Einstellungen Schalten Sie die Stromversorgung über den Hauptschalter ein.

Allgemeine Verwendung Die Tasten WASSER EIN w, WASSER AUS W und

der Tasten DREHZAHL d können nur bei Anwenderwahl frei betätigt
werden.
Die Tasten MENÜ m, AUSWAHL L und SCHEIBE A
können nur aktiviert werden, wenn die Maschine gestoppt ist.
Die AUSWAHL-Taste L kann nur aktiviert werden, nachdem
die MENÜ-Taste m gedrückt worden ist.

Akustische Signale Wenn eine Taste gedrückt wurde, dann zeigt ein kurzer
Piepton an, daß der Befehl akzeptiert wurde, wohingegen ein
langer Piepton bedeutet, daß die Taste im Augenblick nicht
aktiviert werden kann.

Ablesen des Displays WASS.EIN 300UPM - In der ersten Displayzeile wird die
Einstellung der Parameter WASSER
und DREHZAHL angezeigt.
- Sofern eine zweite Zeile vorhanden ist,
wird in ihr die ausgewählte
voreingestellte Betriebsart (SCHLEI-
FEN oder POLIEREN) eingeblendet.

Routineoperationen
Montieren einer Scheibe Legen Sie die Scheibe auf den Drehtisch und drehen Sie sie, bis
die drei Mitnehmerzapfen in die Bohrungen im Drehtisch
eingreifen.

Starten der Scheibe Drücken Sie die START-Taste s. Die Scheibe beginnt sich zu
drehen. Die ausgewählten Funktionen werden ausgeführt, und
angeschlossene RotoSystem-Module starten.

Stoppen der Scheibe Drücken Sie STOPP-Taste o. Die Scheibe wird gestoppt. Die
ausgewählten Funktionen werden abgebrochen, und die
angeschlossenen RotoSystem-Module werden gestoppt.

Einstellungen bei einer Wenn RotoPol an RotoCom angeschlossen ist und die
RotoCom-Speichereinheit Kommunikation auf ROTOCOM-Betrieb geschaltet ist, dann
erscheint folgendes im Display:

1. Details und Besonderheiten der Bedienung

Scheibenwahl RotoPol ist für Scheiben mit einem Durchmesser bis maximal 250
mm ausgelegt. Es kann die gesamte Palette der Struers-Scheiben
montiert werden.
Für die automatische Präparation von Probenhalterplatten
mittels Probenbewegern sollten nur Aluminiumscheiben
verwendet werden. Lesen Sie sich die Anleitungen für RotoForce-
3 oder RotoForce-4 durch.

Montage des
Probenbewegers (Zubehör)
RotoForce-3 und -4 Die Maschinen RotoPol-21/22/25 können mit einem
Probenbeweger des Typs RotoForce-3 oder RotoForce 4
ausgerüstet werden. Angaben darüber, wie der Probenbeweger
montiert wird, finden Sie in der entsprechenden
Bedienungsanleitung.

RotoForce-1 RotoPol-21 und -25 können mit einem Probenbeweger des Typs
RotoForce-1 ausgerüstet werden. Die Version RotoPol-22, die über
zwei voneinander unabhängig arbeitende Scheiben verfügt, kann
mit einem oder zwei Probenbewegern RotoForce-1 ausgestattet
werden.

WICHTIG
Wenn die Maschinen RotoPol-21/22/25 umgestellt werden müssen, dann
muß der Probenbeweger ausgebaut werden.

Montage des Zusammen mit einem Probenbeweger können die Maschinen

Multidosers (Zubehör) RotoPol-21/22/25 mit einem Multidoser für die automatische
Dosierung von Suspensionen und Schmiermitteln ausgerüstet
werden. Informationen über den Anschluß des Multidosers
entnehmen Sie bitte der Bedienungsanleitung des Multidosers.

RotoCom-Speicher- Wenn die Maschinen RotoPol-21/22/25 über RotoForce-3 oder

einheit (Zubehör) RotoForce-4 und Multidoser verfügt, können die Geräte mit einer
RotoCom-Speichereinheit ausgestattet werden. In der RotoCom-
Bedienungsanleitung finden Sie Angaben darüber, wie RotoCom
an RotoPol angeschlossen wird.

Umlaufkühleinheit Die Umlaufkühleinheit (TRECI) wird über einen Adapter

(Zubehör) (ROPRE) an die Einbettpresse angeschlossen.

Das Kabel verbinden, das von der TRECI-Pumpe kommt, mit

ROPRE, wie es das Anschlußdiagramm für ROPRE zeigt.

Buchse für Umlaufkühlung Stecken Sie den Stecker des Verbindungskabels von ROPRE in
die Steckbuchse auf der Rückseite des RotoPol; sie ist mit
„Umlaufkühlung“ bezeichnet.
Das Kabel schließen, das von ROPRE kommt, an das Netz an.
Vergewissern Sie sich, daß die Pumpe in der Richtung rotiert,
die auf der Pumpe angegeben ist. Falls die Drehrichtung nicht
stimmt, vertauschen Sie zwei der Phasen des
Pumpenanschlusses an der Umlaufkühleinheit (nur
dreiphasige Version).
Ersetzen Sie das Abflußrohr der Pumpe von TRECI durch ein
Rückschlagventil mit Kniestück und einen Sechskantnippel
der Anschlußeinheit ROPRE. Wir empfehlen, die Schraub-
verbindungen abzudichten.
Schließen Sie den Druckschlauch des RotoPol an den
Sechskantnippel an. Vergessen Sie bitte nicht die Dichtung.
Wählen Sie das zum Abflußschlauch von RotoPol passende
Reduktionsstück des ROPRE Bausatzes aus und montieren Sie
es auf das Kniestück des TRECI.
Kürzen Sie gegebenenfalls den Abflußschlauch. Befestigen Sie
den Ablaufschlauch am Reduzierstück. Dazu entfernen Sie ein
kurzes Stück der Stahlbewehrung des Ablaufschlauchs,
schieben ihn auf das Reduzierstück und sichern die
Verbindung mit einer Schlauchschelle.
Montieren Sie das Abflußkniestück an TRECI.

DENKEN SIE DARAN:

Der Abflußschlauch darf nicht geknickt werden, und vergewissern Sie sich,
daß der Schlauch über die gesamte Strecke ein Gefälle aufweist.

gibt es einige zusätzliche Möglichkeiten.

Oxidpolieren Wenn Sie mit Oxidpoliersuspension arbeiten, dann drücken Sie

am Ende des Polierprozesses die Taste w. Verstellen Sie den
Wasserhahn bei Bedarf. Lassen Sie das Wasser fließen, bis die
Oxidpoliersuspension weggespült ist (etwa 10 Sekunden lang).

WICHTIG
Wenn eine Umlaufkühleinheit angeschlossen ist, müssen besondere
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen ergriffen werden:
- Das Wasservon der Umlaufkühleinheit sollte nicht zum Wegspülen der
Oxidpoliersuspension verwendet werden. Nehmen Sie hierfür sauberes
Wasser.
- Das Abwasser darf nicht in die Umlaufkühleinheit geleitet werden. Leiten
Sie das Abwasser zum Abfluß oder fangen Sie es in einem Eimer auf.

4. Wartung
Tägliche Pflege Reinigen Sie alle zugänglichen Oberflächen mit einem feuchten
Tuch.

Wöchentliche Pflege Bauen Sie die Schleif/Polierscheibe aus und entfernen Sie den
Schmutz aus Wanne und Abflußrohr.

Auswechseln des Kühlwassers Dieser Punkt ist nur dann relevant, wenn eine Umlaufkühleinheit
angeschlossen ist:
Tauschen Sie das Kühlwasser der Umlaufkühlanlage mindestens
einmal pro Monat aus.
Stellen Sie einen Einwegbehälter aus Kunststoff (TREPO) in
den Tank und falten Sie ihn über die Kante.
Befüllen Sie den Tank mit 30 l Wasser. NB: Wenn der
Kühlmittelstand im Tank zu hoch ist, kann die Pumpe
beschädigt werden.
Fügen Sie Struers Additiv entsprechend den Anweisungen
hinzu.
Setzen Sie den Deckel auf den Tank.
Setzen Sie die Pumpe in den Deckel ein.

WICHTIG
Sorgen Sie stets dafür, daß das Additiv von Struers im Kühlwasser die
richtige Konzentration aufweist (der Prozentsatz ist auf dem Additivbehälter
angegeben). Denken Sie daran, nach jedem Auswechseln des Wassers
das Additiv von Struers hinzuzufügen.

Die Umlaufkühlung Der Flüssigkeitsstand in der Umlaufkühlung sollte jede Woche

kontrollieren überprüft werden oder spätestens dann, wenn die Pumpe nicht
mehr in das Kühlwasser eintaucht nachgefüllt werden. Denken
Sie daran, Struers Additiv für Kühlwasser zuzusetzen, ein Teil
Additiv auf 33 Teile Wasser. Die Konzentrationskontrolle des
Zusatzmittels sollte immer zwischen 2,7 und 3,3% liegen und der
pH-Wert sollte etwa bei 9 liegen. Wechseln Sie das Kühlwasser
aus, wenn der pH-Wert ≤ 8,0.
Die Konzentration des Additivs wird mit Hilfe eines
Refraktometers gemessen (0-10 Brix): Konzentration = 2 x Brix.
Es wird Additiv für Kühlflüssigkeit zugesetzt wenn die
Konzentration unter 2,7% ist und Wasser wenn die Konzentration
höher als 3,3 % ist. Das Diagramm gibt den Zusammenhang
wieder.

Montage einer Scheibe Legen Sie die Scheibe auf den Drehtisch und drehen Sie sie, bis die
drei Mitnehmerzapfen in die Bohrungen im Drehtisch eingreifen.

Starten der Scheibe Drücken Sie die START-Taste s. Die Scheibe beginnt sich zu drehen.
Die ausgewählten Funktionen werden ausgeführt, und
angeschlossene RotoSystem-Module laufen an.

A lire attentivement
avant utilisation
1. L'opérateur doit être parfaitement au courant de l'utilisation de la
machine, de tout équipement ou accessoires connectés ainsi que des
consommables utilisés, selon les modes d'emploi en question.

2. La machine doit être placée sur une table sûre et stable à une hauteur
de travail adéquate. Toutes les fonctions de la machine et de
l'équipement éventuellement connecté doivent fonctionner
correctement.

3. S'assurer que la tension utilisée correspond bien à la tension indiquée

au dos de la machine. La machine doit être connectée à la terre. Suivre
les règles locales en vigueur. Avant d'ouvrir la machine, arrêter la
machine et retirer la prise ou le câble.

4. Ne brancher qu'à l'eau froide. S'assurer que les tuyaux d'eau ne

comportent aucune fuite et que l'écoulement d'eau fonctionne.

5. Si la machine n'est pas sous surveillance, fermer le robinet d'eau

courante.

6. Assurer l'aération efficace de la zone de travail lors de l'utilisation de

consommables contenant, par exemple, de l'alcool.

7. S'assurer que les disques de prépolissage ou de polissage sont

correctement fixés avec les tiges de guidage dans les orifices du
plateau rotatif.

8. Ne pas s'approcher du disque de rotation et du porte-échantillons

motorisé s'ils sont montés lors du fonctionnement. S'assurer que toutes
vis servant à serrer les échantillons dans les porte-échantillons ne
dépassent que d'un minimum. Lors du prépolissage manuel, prendre
garde de ne pas toucher le papier de prépolissage. Ne pas lâcher
l'échantillon lors du prépolissage.

9. En cas de mauvais fonctionnement de la machine ou de bruits

inhabituels, arrêter la machine et appeler un technicien spécialisé.

La machine est conçue pour être utilisée avec des articles consommables fournis par Struers. En cas de
mauvais usage, d'installation incorrecte, de modification, de négligence, d'accident ou de réparation
impropre, Struers n'acceptera aucune responsabilité pour les dommages causés à l'utilisateur ou à la
machine.

Le démontage d'une pièce quelconque de la machine, en cas d'entretien ou de réparation, doit toujours être

Se familiariser Prendre le temps de se familiariser avec l'emplacement et les

avec RotoPol noms de tous les composants de RotoPol:

A Touches du pupitre de commande.

Déballer RotoPol Tous les modèles RotoPol sont détachés de la base de la caisse
d'emballage en retirant les quatre vis du bas.

Placer RotoPol RotoPol doit être placé sur une table robuste à hauteur de travail
adéquate. La machine doit se trouver à proximité d'une prise de
courant, du robinet d'eau courante et de l'écoulement. Si le
système de recyclage (TRECI) est utilisé, prévoir un emplacement
sous la table pour loger l'unité.

Alimentation en courant IMPORTANT

Vérifier que la tension du courant correspond à la tension indiquée sur la
plaque se trouvant sur le côté de la machine.

RotoPol-21 et -22 RotoPol-21 et -22 sont montés à l'usine avec un câble électrique.
Monter une prise sur le câble ou le brancher au courant
électrique:
Noir et marron: phase.
Jaune/vert: terre.

RotoPol-25 Brancher le câble du courant sur le panneau arrière de RotoPol-

25 et brancher l'autre extrémité à une sortie de courant électrique
avec mise à la terre.

DANGER!

METTRE LA MACHINE A LA TERRE

Sens du plateau rotatif Vérifier que le plateau rotatif tourne dans le sens indiqué par une
RotoPol-21 et –22 etiquette sur le plateau rotatif (dans le sens inverse des aiguilles
d'une montre). Si le sens de rotation n'est pas correct, intervertir
deux des phases.

Alimentation en eau L'eau pour le prépolissage sous eau et le refroidissement du

disque peut provenir du robinet d'eau courante ou d'une unité de
recyclage.

Branchement à l'eau courante Monter l'extrémité droite du tuyau de pression sur le tube
d'arrivée d'eau (supérieur) dans la boîte de tuyaux au dos de
RotoPol-21/22/25:
- Introduire le joint du filtre dans l'écrou d'accouplement avec
le côté plat contre le tuyau de pression.
- Bien serrer l'écrou d'accouplement.
Brancher l'autre extrémité du tuyau de pression au robinet
d'eau froide:
- Si nécessaire, monter la bague de réduction avec joint sur le
robinet.
- Introduire le joint et serrer complètement l'écrou
d'accouplement.

IMPORTANT
Ne brancher qu'au robinet d'eau froide.

Branchement à l'écoulement Localiser l'extrémité du tuyau d'écoulement où un petit

morceau du renforcement d'acier a été enlevé. Monter cette
extrémité du tuyau sur le tube d'écoulement. Utiliser un collier
de serrage pour fixer.
Guider l'autre extrémité du tuyau d'écoulement à l'écoulement.
Placer le tube de façon à ce qu'il soit incliné tout du long.
Raccourcir le tuyau si nécessaire. Si possible, le tuyau
d'écoulement doit être rattaché au système d'écoulement de
l'eau.

SE RAPPELER
Eviter de plier le tuyau d'écoulement et s'assurer que le tuyau
est incliné tout du long.

Programmation du logiciel Allumer l'interrupteur principal. L'affichage suivant apparait

brièvement:

Utilisation générale des touches EAU ON w, EAU OFF W et VITESSE d ne peuvent être
sélectionnés que librement au menu Sélection de l'Utilisateur.
MENU m, SELECTION O et DISQUE A ne peuvent être
activés que lorsque la machine est arrêtée.
SELECTION L ne peut être activé que lorsque MENU m est
choisi.

Signaux sonores Lorsque l'on appuie sur une touche, un bip sonore court
indique que la commande est acceptée, alors qu'un long bip
indique que la touche ne peut pas être activée à ce moment.

Lecture de l'affichage EAU ON 300T/M - La première ligne sur l'affichage

PREPOLISSAGE montre la programmation des
paramètres EAU et VITESSE.
- La deuxième ligne, si elle existe,
montre un mode prédéfini choisi
(PREPOLISSAGE ou POLISSAGE).

Opérations de routine
Fixer un disque Placer le disque sur le plateau rotatif jusqu'à ce que les trois
tiges de guidage s'engagent dans les orifices du plateau rotatif.

Mettre le disque en marche Appuyer sur MARCHE s. Le disque commence à tourner. Les
fonctions choisies sont exécutées et les modules du RotoSystem
connectés se mettent en marche.

Arrêter le disque Appuyer sur ARRET o. Le disque s'arrête de tourner. Les

fonctions choisies ainsi que les modules du RotoSystem
connectés s'arrêtent.

Mode d’emploi

1. Opérations avancées
Sélection du disque RotoPol est conçu pour les disques de prépolissage et de polissage
sous eau d'un diamètre atteignant 250 mm. Cependant, toute la
gamme de disques Struers peut y être montée.
Pour la préparation automatique des porte-échantillons montés
dans des porte-échantillons motorisés, seuls les disques en
aluminium doivent être utilisés. Voir les modes d'emploi de
RotoForce-3 ou RotoForce-4.

Montage du porte-
échantillons motorisé
(optionnel)
RotoForce-3 et -4 RotoPol-21/22/25 peut être équipé d'un porte-échantillons
motorisé RotoForce-3 ou RotoForce-4. Pour monter le porte-
échantillons motorisé, voir le Mode d'emploi approprié.

RotoForce-1 RotoPol-21 et -25 peuvent être équipés d'un porte-échantillons

motorisé RotoForce-1. RotoPol-22, ayant deux disques opérant
indépendemment, peut être équipé d'un ou deux porte-
échantillons motorisés RotoForce-1.

IMPORTANT
Si RotoPol-21/22/25 doit être déplacé, enlever le
porte-échantillons motorisé.

Montage de RotoPol-21/22/25, combiné avec un porte-échantillons motorisé,

Multidoser (optionnel) peut être équipé de Multidoser pour assurer le dosage
automatique des suspensions et des lubrifiants. Pour connecter
Multidoser, voir le Mode d'emploi approprié.

Unité de mémoire RotoPol-21/22/25, combiné avec RotoForce-3 ou RotoForce-4 et

RotoCom (optionnelle) Multidoser, peut être équipé d'une unité de mémoire RotoCom.
Pour connecter RotoCom à RotoPol, voir le Mode d'emploi
approprié.

Appuyer sur ARRET o quand le paramètre désiré apparait.

Unité de recyclage Une unité de recyclage (TRECI) peut être connectée à l'aide d'un
(Optionnelle) connecteur d'unité de recyclage (ROPRE).

Brancher le câble de la pompe de TRECI à ROPRE, selon le

diagramme de ROPRE.
Brancher le câble avec la prise de ROPRE à la douille marquée
Recyclage au dos de RotoPol.
Brancher le câble de ROPRE à une prise de courant électrique.
Vérifier que la pompe tourne dans le sens indiqué sur la
pompe. Si le sens n'est pas correct, intervertir deux des phases
dans le branchement à la pompe dans TRECI (seulement des
versions triphasées).
Replacer le tube d'écoulement dans TRECI avec la soupape de
non-retour coudée et le mamelon hexagonal de ROPRE.
Struers recommande de sceller les fils.
Douille pour le recyclage Brancher le tuyau de pression de RotoPol au mamelon
hexagonal. Se rappeler de monter le joint d'étanchéité.

Choisir la pièce de réduction de ROPRE qui pourra s'ajuster

dans le tuyau d'écoulement de RotoPol. Monter la pièce dans
l'angle d'écoulement de TRECI.
Raccourcir le tuyau d'écoulement si nécessaire. Fixer le tuyau
d'écoulement sur la pièce de réduction: enlever un petit
morceau du renforcement en acier dans le tuyau d'écoulement
et monter un collier de serrage sur l'extrémité dénudée.
Monter l'angle d'écoulement sur TRECI.

SE RAPPELER

individuellement, il possède quelques possibilités
supplémentaires.

Choisir MODE AUTO quand L'un des disques peut être utilisé pour la préparation
RotoForce-3 ou -4 est monté automatique et l'autre pour la préparation manuelle.

Appuyer sur MENU m pour activer le menu d'installation.

Mode d’emploi

Polissage aux oxydes Lors du polissage avec la suspension de polissage aux oxydes, à la
fin du processus de polissage: choisir EAU ON w. Régler le
robinet d'eau, si nécessaire. Laisser couler l'eau jusqu'à ce que la
suspension de polissage aux oxydes ait complètement disparue
(environ 10 secondes).

IMPORTANT
Si une unité de recyclage est connectée, prendre des
précautions particulières:
- l'eau provenant du robinet d'eau intégré ne peut pas être utilisée pour
éliminer la suspension de polissage aux oxydes. Utiliser de l'eau propre.
- L'eau usée ne doit pas être conduite à l'unité de recyclage. Guider le
tuyau à l'écoulement ou récupérer l'eau dans un seau.

4. Maintenance
Entretien quotidien Nettoyer toutes les surfaces accessibles avec un chiffon humide.

Entretien hebdomadaire Retirer le disque de prépolissage/polissage et éliminer toutes les

salissures du plateau et du tube d'écoulement.

Remplacer l'eau Seulement pertinent lorsqu'une unité de recyclage est connectée.

de refroidissement Remplacer l'eau de refroidissement dans l'unité de recyclage au
moins une fois par mois.
Placer un sac jetable (TREPO) dans le réservoir et le replier
par dessus le bord.
Remplir le réservoir de 30 l d'eau. NB! Un niveau trop élevé de
liquide de refroidissement dans le réservoir peut endommager
la pompe.
Rajouter l'additif Struers selon le mode d'emploi.
Remettre le couvercle sur le réservoir.
Placer la pompe dans le couvercle.
IMPORTANT
Toujours maintenir correcte la concentration d'additif Struers dans l'eau de
refroidissement (pourcentage indiqué sur le pot d'additif). Se rappeler
d'ajouter l'additif Struers à chaque remplissage avec de l'eau propre.

Vérifier l'unité de Chaque semaine, vérifier l’eau de refroidissement dans l’unité de

recyclage recyclage et procéder à un remplissage d’eau lorsque la pompe de
rinçage ne parvient plus à atteindre l’eau de refroidissement. Se
rappeler d’ajouter l’additif pour liquide de refroidissement de
Struers: une mesure d’additif pour 33 mesures d’eau.
La concentration de l’additif doit toujours se trouver entre 2,7 et
3,3%. Le pH doit être d’environ 9. Remplacer l’eau de
refroidissement si le pH est ≤ 8,0.
Pour vérifier la concentration d’additif, utiliser un réfractomètre
(0-10 Brix, voir le diagramme.). Concentration = 2 x Brix. Ajouter
l’additif pour liquide de refroidissement de Struers si la
concentration est inférieure à 2,7%. Ajouter de l’eau si la
concentration est supérieure à 3,3%.
