US -CATHETER PLACEMENT FOR DRAIN 13/10/2024 12/10/2024
Clinical indication:
Sepsis secondary to cholangitis/hepatic abscess/cholangitic abscess.

Procedure details:
Drainage catheter placement in liver abscess.

Comparison:
None.

Findings:
OPERATOR: Dr Junaid Iqbal Dr Owais Rao

Preliminary ultrasound showed an abcess in the right hepatic lobe.


After standard prepared and draped, local anesthesia was infiltrated at expected site of puncture. Collection was access
with needle and using Seldinger technique after serial dilatation 10 Fr Pigtail catheter was placed in the collection.

Approximately 10m of thick brownish pus was aspirated. Catheter was connected the bag and secured over skin with
sutures.

PRE AND IMMEDIATE POST PROCEDURAL COMPLICATIONS: No complications were encountered.

MEDICATIONS: Injection Xylocaine 2% for local anesthesia, S/C.

Conclusion:
- Uneventful placement of 10-French locking pigtail catheter in liver abscess.
