1.1 Introduction
The removal and replacement procedures included in this section share several character‐
istics: The operating voltages and the weight of the monitor represent specific hazards.
WARNING
Electrical Safety Test Required
Failure to perform the required electrical safety tests can result in personnel in‐
jury.
This procedure requires that electrical safety tests be performed prior to plac‐
ing the ultrasound system back into service. Refer to Field Electrical Safety
Test Procedure for more information.
WARNING
The system contains hazardous voltages that can range from 90 VAC to 264 VAC
and cause serious injury or death.
Only authorized service personnel are permitted to remove protective covers
and access the energized components of this system.
WARNING
The weight of the ACUSON NX2™ and ACUSON NX2 EliteTM systems are approxi‐
mately (98 kg; 216 lb.) and the weight of the monitor represent lifting hazards.
The use of improper lifting methods or lifting in an awkward manner can cause
serious injury.
The US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health publishes design
guidelines that indicate that items weighing greater than 15.9 kg (35 lb.)
must be lifted by two (2) people or mechanical lifting aids. Items weighing
greater than 34 kg (75 lb.) must be lifted only with mechanical lifting equip‐
ment. The transport instructions for the system, when packaged in its ship‐
ping container, are provided on the container. The system, once removed
from its shipping container, is not designed to be lifted. Transport the system
by moving it on its casters.
A Service Part Catalog (SPC) has been established on the Internet at the following URL:
( Service Parts Cata‐
log, https://intranet.for.healthineers.siemens.com/wll/0045/Pages/Default.aspx) .
CAUTION
Authorized Service Personnel Only

services.
Assemblers and other persons who are not employed by or otherwise directly
affiliated with or authorized by Siemens or one of its affiliates are directed to
contact one of the local offices of Siemens or one of its affiliates before at‐
tempting installation or service procedures.
CAUTION
Use fasteners of the correct length.
Failure to use fasteners of correct may cause damage to underlying equip‐
ment.
CAUTION
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can destroy the electronics contained inside of this
equipment.
Wear an ESD strap and observe ESD precautions while servicing this equip‐
ment. It is forbidden to eat, drink or smoke in areas containing ESD for the du‐
ration of the repair assignment.
Before proceeding with these instructions, make sure that the system is positioned on a
flat surface with the system wheels securely locked in place and that there is sufficient
work space, more than one (1) meter, around the system.
