VRTS 111: ACTIVITY 2

The Self-Compassion Letter

SUBMITTED BY: CONSULTA, CLARIZA CABORAL

Objective: To practice self-kindness by writing a letter to oneself from a compassionate

perspective.

Dear Cla,

I know right now you are waging war with all the criticism that you place on your shoulders, especially in
responsibility with your family and school. You put in so much effort into everything you do but feel it is
never enough. Comparing yourself to others only makes you blind to how far you have come, all that you have
had to endure, and how much you have grown. The frustration is real, and it is right at things to feel-it means
you care, that you are trying to do better, and it is proud to be that.

It can be said that feeling the way you do is not wrong because growth is not linear and the journey toward
achieving goals does not flow smoothly. You do your best in conditions that can be tough; this alone is a
reason to celebrate. Your setbacks do not define you. Your resilience is what matters-the willingness to keep
going even after a plan has failed. It is alright to struggle, and you don't need to strive for perfection. It is okay
to make mistakes and even take a breather. What is not okay is letting your own misjudgments take away all
self-esteem from you.

I am just trying to run through in my head a few of the strong characteristics: determination, ability to learn
and grow, and love for others. You are very capable of resounding successes, not because you are perfect, but
due to your genuineness, commitment, and willingness to grow. At this moment, I want you to treat yourself
very gently because you treat your self as you would treat a dear friend-offering encouragement,
understanding, and love.

You are worthy, not due to any achievements or lack thereof, but simply because of who you are. Your
journey may not resemble that of anyone else's, but it is yours, and it is full of promise. Trust yourself and
remember that you are enough as you are. You do not have to be perfect to be worthy of love, compassion,
and success.

Now breathe. You've got this.

With so much love and support,

Cla🩵
