Your task is to study and use the Case Scenario to answer all questions, applying Kolb’s
Experiential Learning Theory and demonstrating critical thinking and analysis.
Case Scenario:
You are part of a group in a university-level project aimed at addressing a real-world issue:
limited access to educational resources in underprivileged communities. The project required
you to collaborate with your colleagues, working as a group to identify a problem in your
local community, propose a practical solution, create a plan to implement your solution and
present your findings to a panel of peers for feedback. Your group proposed a mobile library
service, which would provide books, educational materials, and internet access to such
communities. The project involved field observations, brainstorming sessions, written
reports, and oral presentations.
Question 1
(a) Using the Case Scenario and Kolb's four learning stages (Concrete Experience, Reflective
Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation),
(i) Explain what each stage is about (6 marks)
(ii) Describe the group activities that took place (8 marks
(iii) State the outcome of those activities at each of Kolb's four stages in the mobile library
project (4 marks).
Question 2
You administered Kolb's Learning Style Questionnaire to your group members. Their
learning styles were categorised into Activists, Theorists, Reflectors, and Pragmatists.
(a) Use the Case Scenario to explain how each learning style of the group members
contributed to the project. (4 marks)
(b) (i) Explain how the learning styles in (a) above align with Kolb's four stages of learning.
. (4 marks)
(ii) Using the Case Scenario, describe one activity for each learning style-Kolb’s learning
stage in b(i) above. (4 marks)
Question 3

The results of the Kolb's Learning Style Questionnaire for your group members produced the
following results:
Learning Style Frequency
Activists 12
Reflectors 8
Theorists 10
Pragmatists 10
(a) Create a bar graph showing your group's distribution of learning styles (Activists,
Theorists, Reflectors, and Pragmatists). (3 marks)
(b) Create another frequency table and bar graph showing the distribution of Kolb's four
learning styles (Divergers, Convergers, Accommodators, and Assimilators). (7 marks)
Question 4
A new component for the mobile library service: skill development workshops for
community members is teaching community members to use computers, the internet, and
digital tools effectively. Develop a detailed plan for these workshops using Kolb’s four
learning stages as follows:
(a) Using the Case Scenario, describe activities and techniques for Concrete Experience,
Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation.
Include teacher and student roles and the expected outcomes at each stage (16 marks).
