Group A

Answer all the questions (2 x 5= 10)

1. a) Who describes the Indian Constitution as Quasi-federal?

b) Mr. X an Iranian national by birth, came to India before independence. He got a permit to
reside in India as a foreigner up to a certain period. His permission was extended from time to
time. However, in 1957 he was asked to leave India under the Foreigners Act, 1946. He
claimed citizenship under Article 5 of the constitution. Can his application be allowed?

2. Explain the utility of the Preamble in the interpretation of the Constitution of India.

3. “The Principle of Equality is a dynamic concept with many aspects and dimensions
and it cannot be cribbed, cabined and confined within traditional and doctrinaire
limits”- Critically explain the statement.

4. “In the Puttaswamy judgement the Hon’ble Supreme Court said a person’s right to
privacy must be preserved except in cases where legality, necessity and
proportionality are all weighed against it”.

5. Explain Right to Speech and Expression under Article 19 (1) of the Constitution of
India.

6. “Article 20 and Article 22 of the Constitution of India is the basic pillar of the
criminal jurisprudence.” In the light of the above statement describe the interrelation
between the two Articles.

7. Describe the expanding horizons of the right to life under Article 21 of the
Constitution.
8. Write a critical note on interplay between the Fundamental Rights and the Directive
Principles of State policy under the Constitution of India.

9. Examine the various rights of minorities under the Article 29 and Article 30 of the
Constitution of India.
