Web and Browser
Web (World Wide Web):
The Web is a vast collection of interconnected documents and multimedia content,
accessible through the Internet. These resources are identified by unique addresses
called URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) and are transmitted using protocols such as
HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) or HTTPS (secure HTTP).
Browser:
A browser is a software application used to access and display content on the Web.
Examples include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.
Browsers interpret HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies to render
websites for user interaction.
Standard Toolbar Actions in Browser Components
Most modern browsers include a toolbar with the following standard actions:
1. Back Button:
o Allows users to return to the previous page they visited.
2. Forward Button:
o Lets users move forward to the next page, if they've navigated back.
3. Refresh/Reload Button:
o Reloads the current webpage to reflect any updates or changes.
4. Home Button:
o Redirects users to the browser's set "home page."
5. Address Bar:
o Allows users to type or paste URLs to access specific websites.
o Displays the current page's URL.
6. Search Bar:
o Often integrated with the address bar (omnibox in some browsers), it lets
users perform web searches without needing to visit a search engine's
website.
7. Bookmark Button/Star Icon:
o Saves the current page to bookmarks or favorites for quick access later.
8. Tabs Control:
o Helps users manage multiple open websites in a single browser window.
9. Menu Button (Three Dots/Lines):
o Provides access to additional options such as settings, history, downloads,
and extensions.
10. Zoom Controls:
o Allows users to increase or decrease the page's zoom level for better
readability.
11. Extensions/Plugins Icons:
o Quick access to installed browser extensions or add-ons.
12. Download Button:
o Opens a panel to view downloaded files.
13. Profile or Account Icon:
o For managing user profiles and syncing browser settings across devices.
14. Security Indicators:
o Displays a padlock icon for secure websites using HTTPS, warning icons for
insecure websites, etc
