Job Description

JOB TITLE: Injection Molding Machine Operator


DEPARTMENT: Production
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor
STATUS: Non-Exempt
ORIGINATION DATE: March 2013

SUMMARY: Operate machine. Remove parts from press, load inserts in mold, remove parts,
inspect, de-gate and trim parts, pack parts, clean around press, grind runners and rejected parts.
Read work instructions and complete required paperwork.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


§ Conform to all safety standards of the company.
§ Follow instructions from quality manual for individual parts.
§ Compare production parts to sample parts
§ Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed
safety regulations.
§ Use injection molding machine to produce plastic parts.
§ Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department
supervisor.
§ Trim plastic parts to proper dimensions.
§ Operate production machine in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
§ Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


§ High school diploma, or GED equivalent preferred, previous plastics manufacturing
experience preferred, or combination of education and experience

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
§ Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
§ Must be able to perform tasks, which include, but are not limited to, milling, turning,
drilling, taping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations and inspection.
§ Must be familiar with basic machine functions in order to perform the above-mentioned
tasks.
§ Ability to read, write and use basic math.
§ Willingness to learn basic operations of machines.
§ Willingness to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance regarding machine
setup.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
§ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
§ Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions and decimals.
§ Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
