Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University (MAHGU),formerly
Himalayan Garhwal University is established and incorporated by
Government of Uttarakhand Act, 2016 (ACT No. 33 of 2016) vide
notification no. XXXVI (3)/2016/48(1)/2016) Uttarakhand Shashan
(Vidhayee & Sansadiya Karyavibhag) and under Section 2(f) of the
University Grant Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. Maharaja Agrasen
Himalayan Garhwal University is situated in a peaceful and pollution free
environment close to nature of Garhwal ranges of Shivalik hills at Pokhra
in the district Pauri Garhwal. The Campus is surrounded by natural
panoramic views which provide an ideal environment for higher
education.
University has been functional with a clear mission, vision and
specific objectives of imparting quality education. This will support
employment of quality manpower. Promoters of the university have
varied experiences of economic and business environment and have
poured these experiences in the conceptualization and establishment of
the University. They are well aware to the geographical location and
social needs of the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and committed to produce
skilled manpower. Migration of population in the search of higher
education and employment from hilly region of Uttarakhand is a major
issue. The State Government is trying it's best to provide all facilities to
minimize migration. Therefore, with the Government support, MAHGU
will be able to address this problem of migration. The University will not
only reduce migration of hill areas but also encourage students from metro
who are keen to study in pollution free environment especially in hilly
areas. MAHGU also welcome students from other countries for quality
education of international standards in these pristine hilly terrains of
Uttarakhand.
MAHGU has developed curriculum at all levels of Degree & Diploma in
the area of Agriculture, Commerce & Management, Computer
Applications , Engineering & Technology, Humanities & Science, Law,
Pharmacy & Para-Medical , Vocational Studies, Yoga and other emerging
areas. The University imparts courses and curriculum supporting the
mission of skill development and to ensure empowerment of youth by
employment and entrepreneurship. It includes imparting latest
technology based learning blended with value education. University has
signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with institutions and
industries for training and placement which will enable the students to
find suitable placements.
MAHGU is trying to draw international attention through enhancing Yoga
and Meditation and approaching international institutions and
Universities with a view to establish collaboration and cooperation for
achieving excellence in the best spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” i.e
“World is one family” . MAHGU also proposes to provide short term
‘Yoga and Meditation’ courses specially to the foreign students with the
help of local yoga experts.
University is also committed to encourage cottage industry by
sharing technical and professional expertise with the professionals,
Government and Government agencies to enhance productivity and
fulfill needs of region and state.

The Himalayan Garhwal University amended its name and

style as Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University by the
Government of Uttrakhand under the Himalayan Garhwal University
(Amendment) Act 2021 (Act No. 21 of 2021) vide notification no.
252/xxxVI (3) /2021/52 (1)/ 2021 of Uttrakhand Shashan (Vidhayee &
Sansadiya Karyavibhag).

Dear all,
I Prof. Shiv Kumar Gupta, rst of all, extend my gratitude to all those people who shoulder
ff responsibilities directly or indirectly in the establishment of this university which I dreamt
of. I heartily welcome faculty members, supporting staff and students of this University
who have shown faith and have pledged to take this University to greater heights. I assure
the students, who are getting admission in Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal
University, will get quality, formal, technical and professional education blended with
effective skills based on German Model. This university will be a pioneer in the eld of skill
education as to match with clarion call of our Hon'ble Prime Minsiter to make India self
dependent under the aegis of "Skill India" through skill based training and practical
knowledge Our University has been established to facilitate students from different
background and far off places of Uttarakhand and other parts of country with courses of
emerging areas. Our aim is not only to impart quality education but also create such a
challenging environment where students can nurture their talent and dreams effectively
and also empower them to be on innovative, creative thinker and problem solver.
I have started my journey of social welfare in year 1990 with establishment of "Lal Bahadur
Shastri Prashikshan Sansthan" to impart vocational and skill based computer literacy
program among the people of Uttarakhand and nearby states.
We are aiming to impart such education that our students after passing their examination
will be able to get some or other kind of gainful employment or to be a successful
entrepreneur. Our philosophy of education has always been meeting the needs of
individuals coming from diverse background through life skill programmers with the help
of experienced, qualied, dedicated faculty members and good infrastructure. Our
University getting help of practicing professionals of all the possible areas to motivate and
encourage our students in every possible way to shape up their future.
In this spell bound beauty of nature, I invite the youngsters of Uttarakhand and rest of
India and world to visit and join Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University and

AGRICULTURE
Agriculture employs around 60 percent population of this country and contributes a major percentage
in terms of economy. During corona period, it was the agriculture sector. Which kept our economy
stabilized. We need to understand the importance of agriculture sector wherein presence of
professionals and expertise is always need of the our imagine when the seeds give maximum yield in
shorter duration and are also resistant to diseases. Imagine, when our traditional crops which are
organic in nature such as mandwa, jhungrial, jakhiya, gehatlentels, bicchooghas, green, red or black
beans are available in all markets, certified as produced in Dev Bhoomi. Imagine our kakdi,
pahadimooli, pahadiaaloo being sent to markets of plain with certification of an organic produce.
A candidate with Diploma or Degree in Agriculture can pursue career in field of Agriculture,
Horticulture or Forestry as a employee or opt for entrepreneurship. These candidates can also join
fertilizer, seed, pesticides, organizations or NGO's. There are lot of opportunities for the agriculture
graduates for jobs under the Agriculture Department both in central and state Government banking
organizations, farm machine industries and repair shops, poultry farming/ dairy/ fisheries, insurance
sector, fertilizer and pesticide industries, food production units, private agriculture banking,
hydroponic production of vegetables or involved in organic farming.
There is also lot of scope for Start-ups involved in seed production, food processing unit, organic
vegetable production ornamental flower and plant. Modern glasshouse, drip irrigation, specific
application of fertilizers and pesticides with the help of drone, organic farming and biotechnology
applications are newer emerging areas.
