      The Busy Bees
a) Bees are small, hardworking insects that play an important role in nature. They are known
for their ability to make honey and pollinate flowers. Bees live together in large groups
called colonies. Each colony has one queen bee, many worker bees, and a few drones. The
queen bee is the largest in the colony and is responsible for laying eggs. The worker bees are
very busy, collecting nectar from flowers and bringing it back to the hive to make honey.
Drones have one job, which is to help the queen make more bees.
b) Bees have a special way of telling each other where to find flowers. When a bee finds a good
flower patch, it returns to the hive and does a "waggle dance." This dance tells the other bees
where to go. Bees also have a unique body part called a stinger, which they use to protect
   themselves if they feel threatened.
c) Bees are important because they help plants grow by spreading pollen from one flower to
another. Without bees, we would not have many of the fruits, vegetables, and flowers that
   we enjoy today.
