Topic 1: Talk about the generation gap

1. What kind of family do you live in?

I live in a nuclear family with my mom and dad. My dad is working as an eletrical engineer
and my mom is a grocer. She has a small shop in Thu Dau Mot Market.
2. What do you like and dislike about your type of family?
In general, I love everything about my family. In the weekend, my family usually go out for
dinner or have an outing to Ho Chi Minh city. However, there is one thing that I don’t like
about my dad. He always talks about physics and maths.
3. What kind of conflicts do you get into with your parents?
I think everyone used to or still have arguments with their parents. It also happens to me a
lot but fortuntely, they are just about small problems. I remember one time when I hung
out with my friends and went home late. My parents punished me and said that I had to be
home before 9.00 pm. I realized that they were just really worried. Next time when I go out,
I will inform my parents.
Topic 2: Talk about the relationships
1. Do you think students should start a romantic relationship? Why?
In my opinion, I think students should not start a romantic relationship because of two
reasons. First, of course most parents don’t allow their children to have a boyfriend or
girlfriend at a young age. Second, it might affect their study negatively.
2. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, will you tell your parents about it? Why?
If I have a boyfriend or girlfriend, I will not say a word about it to my parents because my
parents simply don’t allow these stuff. The only thing that can persuade my parents is that I
am the top student of my class but that probably won’t happen.
3. Should parents strongly oppose their children romantic relationship?
As I have said, most parents strongly discourage their children from these relationships. I
think it is very reasonable since young students should focus on their study first. When
they are older and have more social experience, parents should let them decide.
Topic 3: Talk about becoming independent
1. Why do students need to be independent?
Students should be independent because it will be helpful in many situations. These days
many parents have to deal with their huge amount of work and don’t have much time for
their children, so students need to know how to look after themselves.
2. What are the skills you need to have to be independent?
There are many skills I need to be independent such as cooking, excercising regularly, time
management and many more. I am trying to learn these skills to become more
independent.
3. Which of the skills are the most important for you?
In my opinion, time management and cooking are the two important skills. Time
management helps me organize time for each task in a day without the help of my parents.
Also, cooking skills can help me save money and prepare meals for myself when I live alone
in the future.
Topic 4: Talk about caring for those in need
Today, I’d like to talk about caring for those in need, especially disabled people. There are
many disabilities that people usually see in life such as being blind, mute, deaf, cognitive
impairment and many more. People suffer from blindness have trouble moving around, so
they have to use a stick to navigate. For deaf and mute people, they have to use sign
language to communicate with others. Therefore, those who suffer from any kind of
disability are sure to have difficulty in their daily life like miscommunication and
discrimination. Because of this, many individuals or organizations have carried out
campaigns to support special people. Personally, I have taken part in (name of the
organization/ campaign). (name of the organization/ campaign) usually do a lot of work for
charity such as (activities). When I joined (name of the organization/ campaign), I was in
charge of (task). After the campaign was over, I felt more mature because I had done a
good deed.
